Re: What rear end do I have?

Pop the cover, drain the old oil, count teeth, divide the numbers. I have seen 3.52's 3.73's in half tons. The 3/4 tons got mostly 4.10 & 4.56's

Re: What rear end do I have?

if its a stock 1/2 ton with an original v8 chances are it has 3.07 gears. the most accurate way to find out for sure is to pop the cover and count the gear teeth. also the ratio is stamped into the ring gear it will be two numbers ie 14 42 etc just divide the big one by the small one and you have your ratio

Re: What rear end do I have?

On the rear end itself there is a date code and usually 3 letters like RHL stamped on the "tube" of the rear end. On a 72 the stamp is about where the arrow indicates in the pic, but on different years in may be in a different location. If you can tell me the year of you truck and what these 3 letters are I can look it up for you.
