Clean Firewall Without the Master Cylinder?
Can a master cylinder from an older truck, one that mounts on the frame under the cab be used on on of our trucks? Does someone sell a kit for this type of conversion? That would really smooth out a firewall.

check out www.totalcostinvolved.com . they have a frame rail mounted master cylinder. haven't used it, but heard good things about them. they're power brakes but might take some doing to adapt to our trucks tho.

turner enterprises has one in their ad. I sent them a letter for a catalog because the phone # was wrong. I'll let you know if I get one.

There are some special considerations for valving when you mount the master cylinder lower than the wheel cylinders. Check out www.mpbrakes.com for details.

frame mounting
make a cardoard cutout of the unit to check fitment under frame. exhaust can play a big factor when mounting as can shift rods.
you will need to add residual valves in the system to keep fluid from backing up. the aforementioned mpbrakes is a good place to start, great sit with plenty of info. oh, you will have to install a door in the floor of the pickup to access the master to fill it up. oh, you also gotta get a new brake pedal assembly too. good luck! hopefully the turner enterprise system will eliminate the work in figuring things out ....if the catalog ever comes in.
