slicks, drag radials or street tires?
So now that the motor is punchy regular tires just aren't getting.
I know that slicks are ultimately the best traction. I'm comtemplating going with one of two setups. Running drag radials all the time as I only drive the truck 2-3 times a week for about 60 miles total. The second option is to just by new regular tires and by some slicks and mount them on another set of rims just to play around with and or to take to the track. Opinions?? BW |

Re: slicks, drag radials or street tires?
I used to run McCreary tires on the streets and loved them. They had enough tread on them to keep you ticket free on a traffic stop (they were DOT, barely), and they hooked up McCreary is now called American Racer tires, I think...
BUT.......I had a set of BFG Drag Radials and they lasted, oh, about a month. One nail in that squishy area and its over. Nobody would touch it. I ended up doing a patch/plug myself and burning them off over a couple weekends. Anybody will do a tire repair on a regular radial tire, and you don't find a lot of road hazards on the track, so slicks at the track and radials for the street would be my humble opinion. |

just get some decent radials for the street and get some slicks for the track so you burn them all on the track and not wast them on the street and you can have the fun on the street with the cheaper radials

Re: slicks, drag radials or street tires?
I've been running drag radials for years without a problem. I usually average about 2 years on a set.
