Rita's Rod Revival-SWB swap
My wife and I spent Sat. afternoon with a couple of friends (dirtball included) and her brother and we swapped frames on her truck and set the new (to this truck) shortbed on. We took the doors off, and had four of us lift the cab up while my wife and her brother rolled the long frame out. Then we set the cab on jackstands, swapped wheels and tires on the frames, set up the new cab mounts and rolled the new one in. It went pretty smooth.
Here's what it looked like last summer- Here's how it went down- And the finished product, now we just need to reassemble and get the bodywork/paint done on the bed- One of Brett and I's friends brought over his '69 BB SWB that he has been working on for a couple of months. He bought it off ebay and had it shipped from WV. And all three of them together- We hope to have her truck driving by summer, I'll keep everyone posted.

Re: Rita's Rod Revival-SWB swap
Thanks guys, we thought it was a pretty productive day. Tim, Rita wasn't cookin' she was in the garage getting as dirty as the guys.
Shane, what do you want to know about the stands? Cornfed, no offense taken, however I can't have her truck that low, I don't want it looking better than mine!

You're preaching to the choir there, I know what you mean. They're Snap-On's that I way overpaided on because they looked cool.

Re: Rita's Rod Revival-SWB swap
She was definitely in the thick of it. She knows one end of a wrench from another. Much better than most guys I know in fact. I have done some junk yardin' with her too! Don't tell Chris, but she is better at it than he is, she has more patience. She did feed us some tasty kraut burgers afterwards too. It was a good day of wrenching.

Re: Rita's Rod Revival-SWB swap
Quick question, what's in the coils in the 5th pic from the top... It looks like a yellow spiral thingy?

Re: Rita's Rod Revival-SWB swap
That's the actual spring, someone heated them and then painted them yellow. I still need to paint the back half of the frame and fix some rigged things, but the front is done just past the cab.
