small bend in frame
i was just wondering how big of a pain it is to have a frame straightened? i have a small bend in the end of my frame, right where my bumper connects on the front (likely from a fender bender). its not really bad, but its going to prevent "best" alignment of my bumper when it comes time for a new one (and thus, will prevent me from sleeping soundly at night)
anyone have frame straightening stories to share? big problems, or not a bad operation? unfortunately, no pics of my bend now, but i intend to have some later. |

Re: small bend in frame
I had the entire front clip of my old honda crx staightened. The lower portion of the front clip had moved 3 inches to the left. Left it with the shop and told him no big hurry. He called me a week later and told me $250 cash.
And everything bolted up perfectly after he was done. You have described a super easy straightening job, shouldn't cost much. Jason |

Re: small bend in frame
I was sliding a rolling bare frame (without engine) around my pasture (on the wet grass) with my Kubota and it got hung up on a stump...bent the frame horn before I could stop...very weak. You could probably bend it back with a big sledge and a few well placed blows.

Re: small bend in frame
cool, thats what im hoping for. the bend is actually right in the spot where the bolt from the bumper bracket goes into the frame, so yes, it was probably a weak spot that got stressed in a fender bender, and it buckled.
man i just wish i could fast forward time, so that other things of life can be taken care of to clear the way for my full restoration! Last edited by RedZ71; 03-06-2007 at 08:31 AM. |

Re: small bend in frame
Come-a-long (Optional)
Porta-Power (Optional) A Little heat and a BFH (Big Friggen Hammer) and you should be back in Business. If you Have to heat it - don't get that thing red hot - just a little till it moves for you and don't cool it with water - let it cool on it's own Being the front horn it should be pretty easy to straighten back out
