Low miles 1969 C/30
Looked at another truck today, its a 54,000 original miles 69 1 ton.It has been sitting in a barn for years till just recently. It has a few dents and a bit of rust on the bumper but other then that, rust free.It has a 6 cylinder/SM465 with PTO.It has a tach too.The interior is like new.I plan on just buying it for the rust free cab and front clip for the 4x4 though, and sell the rest.Never know though. Its on the original tires and still has the hubcaps...I cant belive how good of shape its in for around here..Will have some pics in a hour or so

Do you get the mulcher with it that would be handy around here after the ice storm we had this winter. That truck sure looks nice. Cant beleave how strait and clean the sheetmetal is for a working truck.

Re: Low miles 1969 C/30
Guys,It makes me feel bad destroying a low miles original truck but my swb 4x4 needs a cab.If this wasnt a big ol truck that I cant even get a original bed for, then I would keep it whole. But if it goes cheap then I am definitely using the cab and front clip. What I dont need will be parted out and sold, even the chassis. The thing on the back was basically a big vacum cleaner, the truck was used to clean out chimmneys. It is PTO operated,it will go with the truck but it will most likely be scraped

Re: Low miles 1969 C/30
is it a single wheel or dual wheel rear axle?
Are your sure it's a 292, I don't see the 292 badges on the fenders What's the wheelbase? Six cylinder tach, hmm

Re: Low miles 1969 C/30
Its a single rear wheel truck. The guy claimed it was a 292,he could be wrong.I havent ran the numbers yet.I noticed it didnt have any emblems either for the 292.I dont know the wheel base,I didnt examine the glovebox label.I think it could accept one of them 9 foot stepbeds though.

Re: Low miles 1969 C/30
It's 133 inch and it will accomodate a longhorn fleetside bed too. If you follow thru on your plans I'd be interested in the 6 cyl tach dash and 292 motor stands if its a 292

Re: Low miles 1969 C/30
The bed looks rustfree.Just what you need.Actually that bed really sucks! It`s 292 if the motor mounts are offset.

It does seem like a shame to part out but, I would give my left N*% to fin a cab and front clipthat nice and you bet I wouldn't think twice about putting them on my short bed. Nice find.

Re: Low miles 1969 C/30
I don't take left nuts for trade, but I have two nearly perfect cabs (a 67 small window and a 68 and up) as well as nice clips, (NOT TRYING TO SELL) Come to AZ, NM, etc and get this stuff, we throw away better metal than you guys start with. Drive over, bring a trailer and haul it back. I don't understand why a couple thousand miles is the limiting factor? I drove one (nearly rust free and all original 68 4X4 Burb) to NC for qksilver two years ago and he came here to get one (1972 nearly rust free and very original 2wd) himself before that? Make a vacation out of it. I just cut the frame off behind the cab of a motor home to get a perfect rust free/dent free cab and clip for $300. They are all over here. That truck is cool, but the sheetmetal is worth more than the truck, so tear it up, at least it is going to a good cause?!

Dustin, that truck is way too nice to part out. There is no way you could buy that and part it out.

Re: Low miles 1969 C/30
Quote:
It is a single rear wheel cab/chassis with a highly specialized body on it. It can only be valuable whole to a person who wants that body or has a longhorn fleetside or 9 foot stepside bed to put on it. It does not have the GVW of a dually 1 ton and therefore is not a good candidate for a flatbed or dump body so she can be worked. In short, it's a red-haired stepchild, and one heck of a donor vehicle. Plus I want the following parts: 6 cyl tach dash/wiring engine and under dash wiring harnesses 292 engine stands and a few other odds and ends needed to convert my gmc from a 350 to a 292 If it were a dually or a 3/4 ton lwb, I'd agree, way to nice to cannibalize. As for an offer? $1000

70rs/ss I haven't started gathering parts for the build yet well not whole heartedly yet any way. When the winter months get here I'll keep you in mind for sure. A family vacation is what happen when we went to pick up the truck actually. Afew miles doesn't bother me in the least it kinda makes it fun.

Re: Low miles 1969 C/30
Warning, the following pics are rated R for rust.I think I am way better off with original metal than taiwan repo rockers and cab corners...As for parting it out,I have the guts to part it.I need the parts and will spend the money to get nice sheetmetal right down the road. Its not like Im destroying it,Im not torching it,just unbolting everything using what I want, and sell what I dont need. Its served it purpose in life cleaning peoples chimmneys, now its being re-used on my shortbed 4x4.I would spend months finding a bed to replace the big chunk of steel on there anyways.I would consider a trade for a paint job and body work for the 4x4 though... Here is pics of the current cab for the 4x4
