Will rear sway bar from 73-87 fit?
I know some 3/4 and 1 ton 73-87s had rear bars, as well as some trailering packages. Will these bars fit on a coil rear? If so, will they bolt on like the front ones?
TIA Jason

It should fit, if you put in a blazer gas tank it might cause problems with that. I put a rear Camaro sway bar on mine and it worked great. I have a webpage about it if you want some more info.

Chevy/GM had no sway bar option, if you see one, it is an aftermarket one, here is the one on my 68 C-20

That bar is made by Addco. I bought one, but didn't like it so I never installed it.

GM REAR SWAYBAR===YES
GM had a really high quality rear swaybar for it's 3/4T trucks in the 80's. It mounted to the ubolts-upside down from our configuration! I run one on my flatbed (leaf spring only) after making some front frame brackets for the links to attach to. You can still see it in the dealer's parts book, but it is discontinued. I have searched every wrecking yard in the Pac NW & I can't find another one! Yes they are GM. No they are not after market. I can post a pic sometime, if anyone is really interested.

TerryP, What is that spring on the top of the trailing arm that I am seeing in your picture. I've never seen this before and I'm curious as to what it is.
Thanks Terry

GM Rear Sway Bar
Here's the mid 80s bar I modified (added front brackets to my frame) to fit my 70 GMC 3/4T flatbed. Pics aren't great, but it's raining out here. 3 pics. Ooooops! Needs a little rotation!

The spring that you see on my '68 is part of leaf helper springs that are actually 1/2 leafs that only take effect when I'm loaded with about 2500# of stuff. Another aftermarket item, I think. Terry

Pickmup are those brackets that the sway bar bolts to stock item?and what keeps them from twisting just the u bolts, they must be aweful tight. the brackets you welded on where they on the 3/4 ton you got the sway bar from, I got to get me one of them.

The welded brackets came off one of our 67-72 frames. The bed bolts to them. The rear brackets are correct from the GM sway bar...just like they came off the truck. I still have never seen another one, but the dealer has pictures in his parts book/computer.

Checked a few auto wreckers not a sniff, no rear sway bars, The only thing the heavy duty chevys had was lots of leaf springs, one had 13 leafs I seen a few fords with rear sway bars, and they look like they just bolt to the rear end with C clamps might be able to make one fit, they just don't look as big as the one in pickmup's pic's,

It's ok boys I'll just talk to my self. I snagged a rear sway out of a 86 bronco today, It's only a 1" thick, but I think it will do for the back seens I got a 1 1/4" for the front. This ford one runs over the front of the diff, and if you reverse the frame arms I think it will just fit the chevy frame width, If my calculations are right. I'll let you know how it fits when I get it on, waiting for warmer weather,must be getting older, when I was young i'd be out there in the snow puttin the B@tch on.

jmil1974 I think this one on the bronco will work for your coil spring rear end, it just bolts to the axle, between the shocks and the diff housing, I don't think it matters if it's coils or leafs, you'd have to take a close look. I see my 1991 f-150 has the same rear sway bar as that 86 bronco, so there should be lots out there.
