Tranny Mounts & Driveline Vibration
Got a bad vibration in my 72, narrowed it down to drivline vibes. My tranny mount (700r4) seems to making the tranny sit about a 1/2inch to the driver side. Could this be enough to cause a vibe? It is a rubber mount, can i change it to polyurethane without changing the motor mounts to poly too? Getting the shaft balanced tomorrow to really narrow it down, right now it doesn't have any wieghts on it.

Re: Tranny Mounts & Driveline Vibration
Might wanna get a new carrier bearing, just to be on the safe side
They're not that expensive & well worth no having to pull your drive-shaft again Or do the SWB's have carrier bearings ? I'm new to the 67-72 stuff Last edited by Spray-Bomb; 03-13-2007 at 08:03 PM. |

Re: Tranny Mounts & Driveline Vibration
polyurathane mounts will increase the vibration// have you checked the pinion angle since dropping the truck? have you also checked the drireshaft yoke to make sure theres enough free play when installed in the tailshaft of the tranny?

Re: Tranny Mounts & Driveline Vibration
corvette engine and trannies sit at more of an angle than that to make room for the stearing colume so idoubt that alone is your problem. if you go with poly mounts i think you should replace all three

Re: Tranny Mounts & Driveline Vibration
think i sourced the problem, got the shaft balanced today, and it was waaaaay out of wack, the guy was suprised that it didn't vibrate worse, seemed to think that someone had made the shaft at home. But now it snowed again so i wont be able put it back in the truck and test drive for a while.
