She's alive!!! I can't believe it..
I finished hooking up the "painless" (hehe) wiring harness tonight and was testing everything and just for giggles I decided to try and crank her.. Lo and behold it fired right up and was running pretty good!!
I've still got to clean up the wiring a little bit and shorten some wires but it's running!! I'm so happy

Good job. Yep, there's nothing like cranking her up after some sort of add on. I can remember when I used to smoke, I would fire one of my projects up and sit and smoke a cig. and just look at it running. I guess its a pride thing. Anyway good for you.

It's was definitely me not reading the instructions close enough. The purple ignition wire under the dash was pre terminated for a neutral safety switch. So it wasn't hooked together. I still haven't found that neutral safety switch thingy but I temporarily put the wires together to see if I had everything else correct. Going to try and clean most everything up tonight. Hoping she's road worthy this weekend

Glad to here you got the gremins out.My 4spd truck won`t start with the brake depressed. There was an extra wire in the column. If it`s not hooked up,I get nothing. With it hooked up,I get the won`t start w/brake depressed. It works fine otherwise.

Re: She's alive!!! I can't believe it..
PS - this is what "wire loom" or "split loom" looks like, per our chat:
http://www.maneywire.com/images/loom.jpg Basically, it's flimsy plastic with a slit in one side, you can tuck wires inside to keep them safe from the elements. It's a good idea to insert the wires into it, then electrical tape the loom. It makes a waterproof casing that way...it's very easy to work with!!

Re: She's alive!!! I can't believe it..
I'm a little confused. I think you had both your truck and jimmy up for sale at one time (recently)?
So now you're keeping both and finally got the truck wiring figured out??

I just finished installing my Painless harness too. I hadn't installed an entire new harness before but happily, it went well. The instructions when I first read them seemed so brief, but everything I needed to know was in there. I would definitely go that route again. |

Ya.. I was slow with it from lack of motivation, but now that i've done it I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I think my dad wants to do his truck also so we'll probably do that this summer after a tank relocation for him

I hear ya man. I'd love to take your jimmy of your hands, but I have way to much on my plate and live in an apartment... so no more toys for a few years. I'm also paying about $140/month to insure my Z71 and 67. Both have full comprehensive and the 67 is insured up to 7K for a total loss. I didn't qualify for any of the "classic" insurance places and none of them let you drive as a DD anyway. Oh well, I probably spend $150/month on gas too
