Picking up the cab

I picked up the new cab yesterday. It was a hard decision to replace my rust bucket because it has been with me a long long time, but it was the right one. (notice the aluminum foil patch on the old cab..)

I have another dash that I'm going to use to patch the radio cut out.

Question: It's a 71 cab for my 72 truck. Would you use a 71 mirror (mounted on ceiling) or a 72 mirror (mounted on windshield)? Are there any other differences between the 71 and 72 cab that I should look out for?

I should have washed it before I took pictures. That's just North Florida pollen on the roof.

Re: Picking up the cab

71 cab should have a raised pad to mount rear view, other than that just the vent in driver door jamb i think

My old 71 cab had both the raised rear view mount and the air psi release in the drivers jamb It was the only one I have seen like this. I now have a 72 cab for my 71 and I saved the raised rear view section to put into it.

Re: Picking up the cab

Thanks. I got in on ebay. Drove to Alabama to pick it up - north of Birmingham. Well - - - I just noticed the vent in drivers door jamb is not there! Oh well. It does have a place for a dome light switch that my other cab did not have, as well as headliner and cargo light.

One more question: The old cab seems to have two larger holes above the fuse box mount, and the new cab seems to have one large hole and then a smaller one. Anybody know what the difference is?
