Vendors???: axle flip 72 dana 60 leaf..

I have a 72 3/4 ton that has the dana 60 rear end with w leafs. I want to go atleast 5-6" lower in the rear, to match the front. May have to go more, but want to start with axle flip. Does someone make a kit, or what is the best way to do this? Thanks for all the info. Justin

Re: Vendors???: axle flip 72 dana 60 leaf..

OK. After looking at my rear axle.... why can't a guy just weld new shackle supports on the bottom of the axle, cut off the old ones, and reverse the spring center bolt, and then put the u bolts in upside down with the stock bracket? My only question is, once this is done (if it works this way) who makes a traction bar for this app. I see caltrac makes one for an axle flip...is this what I need?

The only problems you might run into here are that your axle wont be in the center of your wheel well anymore & you will have to change your pinion angle. The flip kits have the center hole offset to fix both problems...

You will need to buy some new spring pertchs and axle ubolts, flip you springs center pins, cut the old pertchs off the axle, install the axle over the springs, weld the new pertchs on after you adjust your pinion angle and your good to go, you will need to notch the frame. Street rod guys do it all the time, much cheaper then a kit alittle more time then a bolt on kit but some results.

Awesome. Thanks guys. Is there really going to be a forward movement of the axle without changing the hole on the perch, or will I be able to adjust that by waiting to weld it until after everything is in place? Also, I have a huge traction/wheel hop problem now. Does anyone make a traction type device that would work with a flipped axle?

Just lowering it will help the wheel hop problem. Id just wait on the bars until you try it after the drop & regular traction bars should work then...
