Feel like they work on their truck all day and seem to get almost nothing at all acomplished!!! I've done this 2 days in a row now and its starting to get to me. Seems like all I do is go buy little things here and there trying to get stuff to work and by the end of the day when its time for family, I have gotten not much done...

Yeah, that happens to me sometimes. Usually when I don't pre-plan things. If I think things through on the front end and follow a set plan and do one thing at a time I get a lot more accomplished.

I know what you're saying.I've been hit with the "one step forward two steps back" syndrome lately myself.I'm sticking with it though,it'll pass soon enough and it will for you as well I'm sure.

i have an 87 gmc that had absolutley nothing wrong with it. I begged the owner to sell it to me for years. Finally he did. It had a 4/6 belltech drop. I then got it airbagged. It looked so good sitting 4 inches aired right out in the parking lot. It was my bright idea to dismantle a perfectly good truck to do a stockfloor bodydrop. I have parts all over the garage, im learning everything as i go step by step and the point is i own the tshirt when it comes to workin on something and feeling nothing was done. I am a red seal welder by trade so its not the welding thats hard its all the dinky things that gotta be done. 1 thing affects a dozen so to answer your question yes we all probably feel they way u feel at times.

Thats the problem. I start working on one thing and see something else and get sidetracked. I have so much stuff to do I get over whelmed and can't figure out where to start. At times I find myself sitting on the back frame rails staring at down at my sad excuse for a "hobby"...

Also, same here with dismantling what wasn't a perfectly good truck but definitely a drivable truck. All for what you ask? So I could body drop it a total of 1 inch! Yes thats right. Take my truck completely apart all for one measly stinkin inch! This truck hasn't seen the road in over 3 years now because I keep wanting to do more!!!

Ya, that's what I'm talking about, some times I don't know where to start or what to start. I must have ADHD, run around from job to job, never getting back to some of them. I'm getting ready to "Busta Move" though. Haven't accomplished much since spending all that money last Sept., once I started making credit card payments on the Ramjet and 700r4, I couldn't afford anymore parts to continue. It's frustrating to have that awesome drivetrain just sitting on the chassis not going anywhere. I have almost got to the point where I can start making progress again. Now I just need some motivation to stay home and work on it rather than hang out at my friends shops drinking. I can't wait to get it on the road, but haven't made any major progress in months. I think the hardest obstacle to overcome is the lack of time I have to work on my truck. Jared, I feel your pain on tearing down a perfectly good truck just to get a little lower. I bagged mine and loved it, but then started getting pressure from guys in my club to lay it on the ground. Now that it's torn apart I keep finding more things I want to change, need to change, or need to re-do because I modified something else. Seems like it's a neverending battle, and I often find myself staring aimlessly at my lifeless project just sitting undriveable in my garage and remembering back when I could drive it and it was turning heads. I keep telling myself that once it's done I'm going to drive the piss out of it, but will it ever BE done? And if it is, and I don't have anything to work on anymore what the heck am I going to do to keep myself occupied? I have all these nice tools I've learned to use.....

there are things that are bugging me on my truck that I want to do over, but my goal is just to get it back on the road so I can enjoy it, then go back and fix things the way I want them.

Ya, thats what I'm going for right now. But the thjing is, if I didn't have this truck to work on, I would have something else and be doing the same thing... After I get this thing drivable, Im going to pick up a late 60's triumph bonneville and the cycle keeps goin round...

I think I should have written a book on "And chit snowballs from here"! I got the old longhorn in Dec of 84.....a very well worn but solid west coast truck. what started to be a mild resto/driver, spent too many yrs layin in pcs all over my garage......& chit snowballed from there! The old "turd" runs/drives.....man does it RUN! Maybe by the time I have 30 yrs in on her, she will have some paint......or not. There have been a lot of things in my life , that dont involve trucks, & most are more important. Dont loose sight of your dreams......but most of all , dont loose sight of what is most important in your life(wife/family). L

I call it sideways progress. It made my truck better in the end, but we've all had those days where nothing gets done. I spent over a year in bodywork, did some of it twice (had my auto body class help the first time).

Keep in there and focus on one thing to get done and that will motivate you to get it done and pull you through the build.

It's really simplistic, but often overlooked, make a "To do.." list. It has helped me out a lot! Once you get everything down on paper you can start to prioritize things and figure out what needs to be done before you can move on to the next. If you are planning on doing a weekend "thrash", make a list of everything you'll need (don't worry, there will always be something else to go buy) and try and get it all during the week. That way you don't waste build/fab time driving around town looking for parts and supplies (and you know you'll have to go to a few places because the first shop didn't have what you needed). I made a total of 8 trips to 3 different hardware places looking for fittings and hardware this past weekend. It sucked! It's starting to pay off though, get to see the fruits of my labor...

They're '71 truck rims and I believe they are 15x7. The tires are 205/75/15s.

Hmmm, I have 72 rims with 205/70's... I guess mine look a little wider because they are lower profile? Anyways, your truck looks good! I love the straight six!!! I had a 250 3 speed in mine, but now I have a 350 700r4. My buddy built a 292 for circle track racing and has since pulled it in leu of something bigger and better. We are going to mate that up to my 700r4 when I get his thing rolling!!! Its gonna be sweet!

Thanks man! It's a 235 with the stock 3 spd. I'll be running Fenton split exhaust on it aswell.

Ya, I had a clifford header on mine when it was in there. The motor Im getting has a sissel head with clifford 4 barrel intake and clifford circle track headers. Seeing yours gets me all excited!
