Re: rear diff
yes and no.
A camper special is nothng more than HD shocks, HD springs, HD tires, a sway bar, and badges... that is all that came in the option package. Now, the eaton/corp rear axle (identified byt a round salad bowl looking rear cover, and a drop out center section like a 9 inch ford) that came in a 3/4 ton, and that came in a one ton, are basicly one and the same... the brakes are all that was really beefed up. However, as a rear axle assembly, from drum to drum, the HO 52 (3/4 ton) and HO 72 (one ton) rears, are not the same. One other tidbit of info, if you have a coil spring rear, then it can not be used in a one ton, becouse one tons always had coils. |

Re: rear diff
Thanks for the help guys. I'll post some pics as soon as I figure this site out. The 67 C20 has been sitting a long time and I havne't had a chance to do anything with it. Bought it to tow my 5th wheel after I beef it up. My baby is my 48- 350/700R4, Nova clip, Chevell rear suspension, air bags, custom dash, coast to coast 3 times, San Diego to Canada twice.....

Re: rear diff
Andy, you need to talk about the differences between an HO52 and an HO72. Mainly, the load bolt on the pinion.

Re: rear diff
Count the bolts in the rear pumpkin. 14= 1-ton

Re: rear diff
The center section of the 3/4 ton and 1 ton rears will swap directly back and forth. They have the same number of bolts.

Re: rear diff
Thanks again guys for the help, here's a shot of both the 67 and the 48....A bigger one is on my profile. Plans for the 67 include a Caddie 500/400 turbo, aux tranny, one ton dually rear, disc brakes all the way around and air bags to augment the coils in the rear...
