Re: What did you get done? 04/01 April Fools edition
Saturday I took my Mini Starter back to the speed shop in exchange for some new wheels (DARN MINI STARTER WAS STILL TOO CLOSE TO THE HOOKER HEADERS). Sunday I installed the remote solenoid. After I finished I turned the key and nothing happened. I put the tools up and called it a day. I did some research later that night and early Monday morning and discovered the neutral safety wire was on the wrong post. I switched the post and now she lives again.
Hopefully that solves the heat soak problem my Hookers were starting to create by cooking my starter mounted solenoid.

Re: What did you get done? 04/01 April Fools edition
I spent Saturday at the Lonestar Roundup in Austin. There were over 500 pre-1964traditional hotods and customs there. It was quite a sight seeing all of those cars cruising S. Congress Saturday night.
Sunday was spent driving back from Austin, and doing yardwork. Oh boy... Slonaker |

Re: What did you get done? 04/01 April Fools edition
Ripped the heads off my 305 and took them into car quest where i know the machinest. You see before i had a bad oil burning problem. It was like stealth fog behind my truck. The guy said that my valve guides were soo lose that oil must have been pouring into the cylinders. So now they are getting machined and all new everything else. I also took the visor off my truck because a friends boss wanted to buy it. I ripped it off last night only to take it to school and be asked, "That visor will fit a 97 right?" So its still for sale.

Re: What did you get done? 04/01 April Fools edition
Update from Monday first: Went and got the correct booster for the Burb and got it installed, no more leaky booster.
Saturday I began trouble shooting the Burb again. Replaced the EGR, but didn't solve any issues. It still has a leak somewhere which is causing it to eventually die while idling, and die immediately in gear. I sprayed the whole top of the motor down and can't find it. I am wondering now after mentioning it to a buddy if the intake gasket is leaking. Everything looked ok (other than high counts for the IAC) on WinALDL... I ended up getting frustrated and leaving it alone.

Re: What did you get done? 04/01 April Fools edition
Pulled carpet off the cab walls and ceiling.
Cut old fading tint off the back window Removed 6-7 stickers from the rear window Tested scraping tools to remove the glue left after I pulled the carpet off the cab walls. Pulled upholstery off the driver's door panel, sanded the glue off and shot it with black primer. I'll do the passenger side soon. Removed a pair of the biggest mud flaps I've ever seen on a pickup. Moved the radio from a universal mounting box that covered up the ashtray into the original dash location. (Yes, I cut the dash) Removed an air horn from the roof and did a temporary patch on the holes left behind. Wrapped the passenger side header and installed a new starter. Removed and polished the gauge lens need to put that back tonight. Last edited by neverfinished; 04-02-2007 at 04:50 PM. |

Re: What did you get done? 04/01 April Fools edition
Got a flywheel sat that works with my clutch, damn thing isnt ballanced for thre 5-6 BBC, junk yard swore it was. I put it in anyway until I can get the correct one. Went on a short break in trip down the highway. Temp guage read in the red but the truck wasent giving me any reason to think it was overheating. Found out the parts store gave me the wrong resistance sending unit got that fixed and it shows much cooler on the guage now. Sunday the fuel pump freaking quit and my Tilton mini starter took a crap. Slaped the good old faithfull stock starter back in and it turns the BB over just fine. I got another electric fuel pump and stuck it in last night. These $70 Faucet pumps are sorry units. I cant get the new one to suck through the inline filter. Got a different pump I'm going to try latter today. I decided to take this week off. Need to get some stuff around the house done this week, book keeping for the shop and taxes all hammered out this week.

Pulled tranny and put in a GM high stall converter....only stalls about 1900 though. Also soaped and pressure washed the whole bottom side while I had it on the lift. Nuthin like clean floor pans.

Re: What did you get done? 04/01 April Fools edition
Lol you think you have alot invested in audio, I've got more money into the audio system than the truck is worth! $2000.00 in the sub amp, $800.00 into one of the 15" subs (gotta get another yet), and thats just the sub stage! Kinda makes me want to sell it all and buy more stuff for the truck sometimes!
