OTHER Tailgate (optional ) IDEAS.....??????

Because of my previous camper , I had NO tailgate,
but went ahead & lowered my 67 3/4 ton.,..
I then looked around to see what else mischief I could get into..

I think I found it..... problem is :
* our bed openings is 65 "....
* Suburb, double doors measure just 60 inches...
but this is what I like to do to mine....
red is used for clarity of idea ...( my truck is white )

Anyone else have other ideas or pictures,,???
THANKS MUCH

I like your creativity. A thought might be to use the the barn door for 30" of your gate and then have the other 35" in the traditional drop-down format. Then you'll have a gate for all seasons.............

Re: OTHER Tailgate (optional ) IDEAS.....??????

Since you're going to be doing a bunch of fab work anyway what about a Lincolin Blackwood gate? It's already in tailgate form. Or graft the top 1/4 of a pickup tailgate onto your suburban gates and section another pair of gates to get the width.

Might get better more accurate answers if this was posted in the 67-72 section....perhaps it has already been done by a 67-72 owner.

Re: OTHER Tailgate (optional ) IDEAS.....??????

Many THANKS guys,...
No bites on the 67-72 forums.... ummm.
I figured finding a used 't-gates' in any condition was/ is going to be so=so...
new t-gated, are way over priced IMO....
& I see tons of $$$ spent on the front clips, Grills, & roll pans, but just lookin' for ways to get-a-round from buying a $25 tailgate netting, although nothing wrong with one either....
Just asking for comments.. SO THANKS......
Jim

Re: OTHER Tailgate (optional ) IDEAS.....??????

If i knew how to eld id even take a shot at itbut instead of a burb back cause it so flat id mod the trucks tail gate so it worked like a burb door. Also i would try what some one else said (if i read it right) to make the back tail gate go down like normal and open like a burb. It would be hard but no one would have one also with some scketchs i have been drawing in my head it could still be removed like a normal tailgate. So no major fab work would actuall be on the bed it self
