newly acquired 65 C10 project
I thought that I would share a little about my new project.
A friend of mine bought a clean 65 that he used as a daily driver. It had a roller cam 305 and Turbo 350. It was a good runner and all it needed was a little TLC, a little straightening and some fresh paint. He took it apart to repaint it, pulled the engine with big plans for it (a blown 305?). After 2 different paint jobs, it sat for almost a year. He called me wanting to know if I was interested in it. He got bored with it and found a new project. He was keeping the engine and transmission and he wanted $500 for the rest. He said it was all done, it just needed a drivetrain. I had a freshly built 350 and transmission just for it. I waited about a month and he calls back again. Told me if I wanted it to just come pick it up. He didn't want anything for it, just needed to get it out of the way. I headed right over with my trailer. What I found was a 1/2 painted project, with lots of missing and broken parts. There were still dents and bodywork needed on the bed and some rust bubbling through the rocker panels where he had already been painted. I talked him into painting the remaining hood and doors after I did the body work on them. I am going to attempt to repair the damage on the bed, hopefully without having to reshoot. I have the engine and transmission bolted in. I'm in the process of getting enough put together to make it run and drive. Then I will decide on where to go from there. Here are a few pictures
