no gas

i need help , im just getting a little bit of gas to carb is it the fuel pump not doin right or is my tank stopped up. i took the gas line off just under cab and had nothing, could my fuel pump be weak enough to where its not really got a good gas flow going yet , and i have two lines going from tank all the way up to fuel pump ,what is the other one for, its not hooked up to anything, somebody please help

Sounds to me like the pick-up filter screen may be cloged in tank. The other line is a return line. I would recommend if they are the stock lines replace em' gas line usually go bad from the inside out causeing problems also as you mentioned resticting flow. Hope it helps RJ22

Also check for an air leak between the pump and the tank. If there is a leak, it will not pick up the fuel. Use shop air to pressurize the tank some, and then look for a damp area on the lines. The leak will not show up without doing that, because there is not enough fuel in the line to leak.

If it was me,and it was an old pump or I didn't know it's age,then at this point I would replace any and all rubber fuel sections,and get a new (non-auto-zone) pump. You don't need problems down the road and the entire bill will be quite low. Very inexpensive peace of mind IMO.

sounds like everyone is giving you good advice i figured i'd share a funny story about the same problem accept i had a dead mouse floating in the tank and it would get next to the pick-up line and stop flow and i'd have to sit there for a while then start for home , i had my tank boiled out at a radiator shop and it all good now,

p.s. your second fuel line is a return by the sounds of it if you get a new pump and it has a small and a large nipple for rubber hose the smaller is used as return to divert fuel back to tank and help with vapor locking regulate fuel pressure , i'm assuming that the second hose is plugged off right now any how cause there are several pump styles and some don't have returns, like my carter high flow

Is there any gas in the tank? Had to do that. You didn´t say that you have a full tank or something like that.
When you take the line off under the cab try opening the gas cap, maybe there is a vacuum and the gas can´t flow. Just like centsless said, you can put a little pressure on it to see if the fuel even flows out of the tank.

actually, the tank came froma a doner truck cause it was a new tank so i figure it was good , i reomoved the tank after it kept dieng and i drained in and heard somthing rattling around in it so i shuck it upside down and "several" mice fell out they even got more out wen they boiled it, goes to show even if it new never hurts to clean it

Try some fresh gas, old gas doesn´t burn right.

try pulling the sending unit a push a coat hanger thru the the metal tubes mine was clogged up restricting fuel flow i tried 2 new pumps before i figured it out good luck
