I need ideas for door panels

Hi Everybody, I am working on the interior of my 72 lwb, I would like some ideas for inside door panels. Do not submit pictures if you dont want your design copied. I will probably end up using several of your ideas to come up with my own design. Thanks, oldschooler

Re: I need ideas for door panels

I'm doing the same thing. Final decision(s) in a week or so. I've collected a bunch of interior pics so far, but could always use more. Looking forward to the responses. Thanks for starting the post.

Re: I need ideas for door panels

The`72 door panels are the worst for customizing. They are molded and have loner posts for the levers/handles.The others are nice and flat. You can do anything to those.I plan to roll`n`pleat an interior for my`67.

Re: I need ideas for door panels

I've considered carbon fiber sheets, aluminum diamond plate, and having them covered, but now Im considering having them powder coated with a hammer finish

It figures. My 69 has been updated to 72s :-(

I looked at them for 1/2 an hour trying to come up with a neat/attractive way to cover them.

I'll probably end up building them from scratch. Particularly since I just added the LMC power window kit that utilizes the original hand crank shaft.

Re: I need ideas for door panels

these are by far my favorite door panels/seat cover. this is member dcpetty's ride and im told that the pieces are available through ricks picup parts. im doing these pieces with a two-tone theme so im not worried about anyone copying me. they would look great in your truck too

Re: I need ideas for door panels

The only thing with the`72s is the shank length on the regulators.Custom flat panels would need to be built-out there or something like a long armrest.Prolly no big deal.Rick`s might make a`72 version.

Re: I need ideas for door panels

I am using aluminum diamond plate for the gauge panel, glove box, and door panels! I think it will look cool!

Re: I need ideas for door panels

Mine are in the works (Using Cheyenne style 71 panels now), but I grabbed up a pair of the steel panels and am bought a piece of black marine vinyl and a piece of red marine vinyl from the local fabric store ($50 for the panels, 20 for the vinyl). The pattern is black with a red stripe about 3" wide at the top. The stripe will match the back of my seat, and the vinyl will be attached with spray adhesive and "cut into" the horizontal grooves of the panel with a tool that looks like a plastic pizza cutter (I think it's a pinstriping tool). Basically, it'll look like just like a 69-71 steel door, but covered to match the seat. Pics as soon as the fabric is sewed.

That sounds cool!. I definitely wouldn't copy another board members truck because it's not unique anymore!. That's why the Dano style by rod doors is so boring anymore. Everybody and there brother call it Custom . Oldsschooler-good luck and remember to be "your own originality" brother

I wonder if you can get these without the bowties? And what arm rests are those?
