Door Glass - Help
I just finished swapping out my window regulator assembly, door lock remote control (inside door handle assembly) and replaced all of the felt in the window tracks. Thanks for all of the good tips in the FAQs. Everything was going way too smooth until...I rolled down the window the first time and the glass pulled out of the bottom metal track. It seems the new felts are a bit too tight for that old adhesive. So I need some technical assistance:
What is the preferred way to re-attach the glass to the bottom metal track? Is there a special product for this and where would I go to get some?

Re: Door Glass - Help
I've used silicone on a couple occasions for the window and the wing window.
I believe it works alot better than the rubber liners. Frank

Re: Door Glass - Help
There is a primerless to glass window urethane that works good. Clean out the old folded over stuff and fill the metal grove, about half way, with the urethane. Set the glass and roll up the window for a couple days, I repeat a couple of days. It will seam dry, but you don't want to do it a third time, right. Most glass shops (or the one I worked at) have it, I know the part number was U-418, but I can't remember the manufacture, maybe beta-seal. It doesn't take a ton, otherwise it squirts out the ends and edges, and when it gets on you're hands, you dont wash it off, you wear it off (unless you have the scrubs-in-a-bucket) I can get more info if you want tomm. shoot me a PM --- Todd

Re: Door Glass - Help
DO NOT DO THIS!!!
Go to your local glass shop and ask for the rubber seal that they sell to install side glass he will know what you mean. This stuff sells by the foot and is cheap!! Remove your window and window sash from the regulator, the sash is on rollers so just take it off the regulator track. With the sash removed clean it and squirt your window sash inside as well as the outside of the rubber that goes into the sash with Windex as this will make it easier for the window and the rubber to be inserted into the sash. Rap the rubber around the bottom of the window and place it into the sash .... line it up and press it into place then take a rubber hammer and tap the window into place till it bottoms out in the sash. Trim excess rubber off with a razor blade. Let it sit and air out. The windex has to evaporate and as it does the rubber swells and holds the window tight in the sash. Install your window and sash back into the regulator track. This is how it is done in the factory as well as in the glass shop. esll. * Remember to measure the width of your window at the bottom. * Rubber comes in two widths get the widest.

I like your sense of humour! (You are trying to be funny right.) Well just in case your not being funny I meant .... not to do what has been suggested ie. silicone or any other gluing agents etc. My goal is to help the person who has the problem with the window glass not hinder them in any way that is all. I've noticed replys to posts that actually make one wonder what the person's agenda really is that is replying to the post. If I've offended you in any way or sound like a stuffed shirt to you let me apologize now in advance as this is the last thing that I would want to see happen. Please PM me if you have a concern with my reply to this post or any post that I may have made that bothers you personaly! esll.

Re: Door Glass - Help
Thanks for the info. I think this discussion is okay, since there are many ways to skin a cat and I want to hear them all. I'll call around today to some glass places and see what the have to say also. This job wasn't as bad as I thought. The only problem that I had was getting the new roller into the old track. Thats probably how I loosened-up the sash . By the time I get through with the other door, I'll be well practiced.

Re: Door Glass - Help
I called a half dozen glass places yesterday and got six different anwers: one says use urathane glue but silicone is okay, ones says use two-sided foam tape, one says that its pressed on and they don't have the expensive machine to do it, one said they press felt in there, and one "expert" hasn't called back. None of them had the rubber pieces. I found that Early Classic has them ($6) and I think I will have to get them.
The good news, I got the felt and fuzzies in the passenger door no problem.....until.....How long would you spend looking for that special screw (or clip) that got away? That could be a whole 'nuther thread.
