Escutcheon problems
Is there a "trick" to installing the aftermarket escutcheon/washers that fit between trim panel assembly and the inside door handles & window cranks on the 67-71 pick-ups? We have purchased 12 in the past few weeks from various vendors and each one cracked/split around the seam found on the circumference of the part. In fact a couple split before we even had them installed in the panel. Thanks.

Have had trouble getting a few of them in from time to time but never had any crack.

I had the same problem. Apparantly the aftermarket ones are made poorly. I wound up buying mine from GM. They are still available through the dealer, but only in black color. The GM ones never gave me any trouble.

They are a little difficult to install...almost like they are just a little too big. I have not broken any but wanted to...LOL! I get mine from Truck Shop in Orange, CA. I might try the GM units however.

Thank you for the responses folks. I think I will go the OEM route and see if SEM can provide a paint/dye to match the saddle color. Tx Firefighter, would you happen to know the GM part number, or where I could do some research for it? Thank you!

12338082 for 69-70, not sure if it'll work on earlier models or not.

I can't remember the exact price. I ordered a couple today and I think they listed for 3 or 4 dollars a piece.
Edit: 3.07 a piece plus tax.

I do not mind. They cost me $2.48 each including tax. Had to buy a package of five for that price.
