Question about a 68 longbed 4x4

Ok I have been looking at a truck that has me confused. Here is the deal it is a 1968 3/4 ton 4x4 4 speed big block sofar so good but here is the funny part the vin on the inside door and glovebox match and the vin is ce248z159939 the truck is beat to crap so I'm guessing if it was originaly a 2 wheel drive it was a long time ago. This is a 2 wheel drive vin is it not?

Re: Question about a 68 longbed 4x4

Thats what I thought. But the cab supports are in really bad shape so I don't think the cab has been swapped.I'm thinking they turned a 2wd into a 4wd because everything else seems
correct. Is there any other way to tell if the frame is a 2wd frame?

Re: Question about a 68 longbed 4x4

try and find the vin number on the frame and compare it, but i dont think just because the cabsupports are screwed up means doesnt mean it wasnt swapped

Re: Question about a 68 longbed 4x4

They did not make Big block 4x4s is what I have always been told, so something has been definitely juggled with, body, drive train or the 4x4 stuff.

No not screwed up just worn out and trashed. So if it was a swap you would think they would have gotton new ones, but then again the truck's only saving grace is that it has a big block and its 4x4 the the truck is trashed, and they want $2 grand for it.
