Redaddiction's Official Build Thread

Well it is time I started my build thread. First a little history on my truck, it was purchased about 5 years ago by my dad. I convinced him that we needed a work truck and found this one in the local paper. We went out to see it a few days later and drove it home. After that we have used it for all of our work around the house and home depot runs.

After high school I graduated then decided I would join the Marine Corps with a buddy. He went active and I went reserves and have been home for awhile and decided that instead of buying a new truck with a huge payment and higher insurance I would just build the old work truck. After some convincing of my dad I have now acquired the truck and the fun will start. Here are a few pictures of what I am starting with.

The plans for the build are 5.3/4l60e dropmember with c4 front suspension and coilovers and alot of body work. I will get into more detail with my later pictures along with updates on the parts I have already received.

Re: Redaddiction's Official Build Thread

You asked for updates here you go. These are the pictures of the motor/tranny. I am sending the check out today and hopefully have it here after finals. It is a 5.3/4l60e out of a 2004 silverado, it does have fly by wire which I intend on using and has less than 20k miles on it. I ended up paying 1400 for it complete minus pcm.

Re: Redaddiction's Official Build Thread

Ok thanks to the blazer tank on the cheap thread I now have a fuel tank. Since I am going fuel injected I need a different setup in the tank. So here is what I am going to do.

I had a 96 impala tank with a everything I need so I basically took out the drop in pump and pickup tube and then cut out the baffle in the bottom of the tank. I am going to cut open a hole in my new tank to mount the baffle in the bottom them weld the ring to mount the drop in pump. The new pump will then bolt to the ring like it did on the impala tank. I hope this makes sense here are a few pictures I will be cutting the blazer tank later this week and will have more updated pictures.

Here is the blazer tank

Here is the baffle pickup tube and ring I cut out of the plastic stock impala tank.

Here is the pump next to the blazer tank showing how it's nearly the perfect height.

That is all I have now I have some more updates coming later with a few surprise parts.

I feel sorry for you I spent 3 months at Camp Johson and that was the most boring 3 months of my life. Having to take a taxi everyone was really bad. Are you stationed there or just in mos school?

Re: Redaddiction's Official Build Thread

I was here for MOS school from Oct-Dec, but after a while I went and got my truck from KY, so i could drive everywhere, I knew I would get stationed here anyway, cuz I work on Ospreys and this is currently their only duty station. I HATE IT HERE! but hey, 3 1/2 more years and I'm goin home, I just had to sign a damn 5 year contract! STUPID

Re: Redaddiction's Official Build Thread

I have that same impala sending unit and baffel in my tank, let me say that is one expensive sending unit if it goes bad.. I've went through the original and one junkyard one and my truck isnt even done .. I checked on new ones and their like 200.00 new w/o the pump and the pump is another 100.00. Looks like its going to be a fun project.. how are you puttiong the c4 suspension on?

Re: Redaddiction's Official Build Thread

Alright, I finally installed my ECE 6'' rear drop, super track bar and shock relocator kit. Let's just say it was super easy to install. I had no trouble following the directions so I didn't take very many pictures. I am having trouble loading my pictures on to webshots so I am just going to put up the picture of the truck after I finished.

The other good news is my c4 suspension arrived and I have almost saved enough money for a dropmember by porterbuilt. Once I get that I will be installing the parts outside of the truck including the ls1(5.3) and then trying to swap it all over in one day.

Please ignore my front end being a little higher than the rear I either need to get drop spindles or install the new suspension asap to get the front down more.
