Wheel Adapter/ Spacer Question.
I am thinking of buying wheel adapter for my truck, and this is why. I have 4 good steel wheels that are 5 x 4 3/4 that came off the Bel Air. I decided I want to paint them red and use Spider Caps on them, but the spider caps don't come in 5 x 5 that I can find, but they do come in 5 x 4/3/4, so the 5 on 4 3/4 Steelies I have will work. I can find adapters that go from 5 x5 to 5 x 4 3/4, but do they make some that go from 6 lug to 5 x 4 3/4? Any suggestions on what to watch out for, and which adapters are good and which ones are not? As Always any help/opinion/advice/guidance is appreciated.
Thanks. Shawn

Re: Wheel Adapter/ Spacer Question.
All 6 lugs are 6x5.5, I believe. I have seen 6 to 5 lug adapters, they are two piece, can't remember where, try surfing the web. Also, if you go with adapters, be careful, use loctite, I lost a wheel. Lug nuts holding spacer to truck came loose, spacer still firmly bolted to rim.

Re: Wheel Adapter/ Spacer Question.
jorgensensc,
I will try and find the information I have on a vendor for adapters. If I remember correctly they will custom make a set for you. They were not all that expensive as I remember.

Re: Wheel Adapter/ Spacer Question.
jorgensensc,
I looked back into some old files, and found several sites. Wheeladapter.com is one, stagewest4x4.com is another. There are several out there that make adapters. I was going to go with a set of wheels off a 2003 and needed the adapter for the center hole and to push them out past the tie rod ends on my 70.
