Has anyone ever had good luck with aftermaket grill?

Has anyone ever had good luck with the fit of an aftermaket grill? if so what brand and where did you get it. I am not having any luck finding a good used one for my 72. I am considering aftermarket but I hate to drop that much money on something that I have heard so many complaints about not fitting

Same situation here. I'll be watching this thread. BTW, I'm looking to use a paintable myself.

Re: Has anyone ever had good luck with aftermaket grill?

What about the chrome ones, aren't they made of steel? I drive my truck daily and would like something tha won't get rock dinged at 80 MPH. The freeways in Houston are dirty!!

Re: Has anyone ever had good luck with aftermaket grill?

I put one in mine, got it from LMC fit up really well. Just have to take all the bracketry off of the original and mount to the new one. ( it is a 2 man job to mount the grills )

Re: Has anyone ever had good luck with aftermaket grill?

The 71-72 chrome plated steel grills are tough to mount, but they do look good when done. From what I can tell is that they are stamped from the same tooling as the aluminum ones and thats the problem. The aluminum grills are more flexible than the steel ones so they mount easier. I have one in my Garden Truck and love it. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I have a chrome plated steel grill with 4ml billet aluminum insert. Here is a bad picture but the only one that I have on this computer.

Re: Has anyone ever had good luck with aftermaket grill?

Thats a nice Truck there Wes,I like the chrome hooks the best...Do I see the newer Silverado 3/4 ton polished rims on it?As for grills,I found several originals in great shape for my trucks...

Re: Has anyone ever had good luck with aftermaket grill?

Yep, those are actualy 05 take offs. They work great and look good too.. The grill is a piece that I sell on my website. I installed it on this truck so people could see one on a truck as well as the Cowl hood. WES
