long to shortbed, almost done
Its 3 months since i found the longbed in the dump and since i live in Mexico and our trucks came with a weird mix of a usa bed and Argentina bed, i decided to cut it and try to make it shortbed, i found too much information in this site to start with this project and finally is ready to the paint. Is not an asy job but worth it. Is not a proffesional job, is more like an amateur job, me and my brother had some fun weekends (alot of 2XX, coronas and a small handsaw). Now, we are trying to align the bed to the cab, seems like we will have to play a little bit with the frame and bed supports, if someone knows how to do it quickly and have some measures please let me know. by the way, holes fits perfectly into the chassis.

Looks good! I can't help on the measurements though.

Nice work ChevyMex!
I have seen enough of these lwb to swb bed mods now that I think when my current truck is done that I am going to haul my longbed into the garage and make it Short! Last edited by BigSky71; 05-13-2007 at 10:33 AM. |

Good work. I like the 6 stake pockets. Adds to the uniqueness

Re: long to shortbed, almost done
Did you chop frame as well, If so how did you do it? Any pics? You had to have taken 12 inches off at center, and 8 at end.

Re: long to shortbed, almost done, more pics
Nope, the frame was already a shortbed. In Mexico this truck only came with shortbed option but a different bed kind. Today i did the bed interior paint, the color is a green cactus, i did not use prime, instead i used 4 hands of green cactus base and then use metal green cactus for a better finish. For a non show truck i think i would not let anyone to step inside the bed (jejejeje) not even my kids. My wife thinks i would use this truck for all the house hard work but she do not understand that this truck is already retired.
