Check out what I found! (X3)
I was going thru some box's of parts I got with Low Buck and these were in with the new rotors and I thought they were bearings. I went to put on the new rotors and turns out they are brand new gas caps. Are they just stockers that are still available or are they special. The P/O had each one wraped up in paper towels and back in the box's

...hmmm...wish I could help with the question Kevin.
They look like stock to me but, who knows. I would check the part # for avalibility and see. eitherway nice find. I would guess they are more expensive than the wheel bearings that you thought they were. RJ22 |

Re: Check out what I found! (X3)
Those are not NOS due to the new style boxes, but they are from a dealership. I didn't know they were still made, I might have to check into that at work.

Re: Check out what I found! (X3)
As far as I understand NOS it can be in new boxes. As long as they are made on the same punches/machines they are still new old stock, no matter when they are made. This is why not all NOS is as good as it's cracked up to be. The presses can wear out and you could find that a used fender will fit better than a NOS fender made on that old worn out press.

They are still made. Just bought one for my truck a while back. My sand rail also uses the same cap and it's a custom aluminum tank. The parts guy said it's just a standard Chevy cap........

Some orig GM part numbers are still available, some are a continued runs since they fit other models(such as dash defrost vents fit Vans thru 70's if not additional applications), some are second, etc runs, some are remaining inventory... it's the remaining inventory that is nice to find... Back in 1988 I bought 10 each of OE, remaining inventory Heater Control assy, both A/C and Non-A/C,... in 1994 after no longer available I sold them at a swap meet in Dallas TX, for big bucks,... now all the truck suppliers have them for 1/2 what I sold my OEM units for... You be surprised how many items are still available thru GM.

with that red print sticker, it looks like a reboxed stant piece to me. Just like the clearance lenses, you order it through GM, it comes in a GM box, lens sealed in a bag, but it has truck-lite (I think that was the brand) written all over the bag.
