replacing oil pan gasket

will it be easier to replace the oil pan gasket if my front suspension is removed( to rebuild it with new bushings, etc)???

i figure it would be the best time to replace the gasket since its leaking, since i'll have so much extra room to move around under there.

also, i forgot but will i need to remove my timing chain cover to install a new gasket on the oil pan?

No nothing with the front sus. is really in the way of that job except maybe the front tires and even then there really not in the way but more for just getting more light in there to see.

And the timing cover can stay put it's the other way around your thinking of.

Re: replacing oil pan gasket

Like Stepper said, nothing else needs to come off (except maybe the oil filter for pan bolt access) to replace the pan gasket. Put one of Felpro's one piece gaskets back in....those suckers are awesome.

Re: replacing oil pan gasket

I replaced my pan gasket with all of the suspension attached. No problem at all. There is a LOT of room for it.
