aluminum plug stuck
I was told not to do it but I did. I need to get an aluminum plug out of an aluminum manifold but the allen inset wants to strip out. It has not stripped yet, but feel like it will. I'm afraid to use heat on the aluminum.
Any ideas?

Use heat. What do you have to heat it up?

Re: aluminum plug stuck
A torch. Will it discolor the manifold?

Re: aluminum plug stuck
Can you run the truck? Drive it around the block a few times. It will only heat it 100 degrees or so but it may be hot enough to get it loose.

Re: aluminum plug stuck
Thanks guys, using heat was the ticket. I used a good heat gun and heated around the plug. It was spooky going but it worked.
