Air Cleaner Assy Advice

I'm planning on powder coating my air cleaner assy and need to remove the vacuum motor from the snorkle. What is the best way to remove this? Should I drill out the spot welds on the one end of the strap holding down the motor to remove it and then reattach with snap rivets. Has anyone been able to get the tang out from under the slot on the other end to remove the motor that way? Could use a good suggestion on the best way to do this.

Thanks
