Bench or Bucket Seats?

I have a pretty worn out bench in my 82 right now. Been thinking about maybe getting rid of the bench for some buckets. I would appreciate any opinions anyone has on either keeping the bench or getting buckets.

Also if anyone can advise how hard it is to swap and what are good seats to swap with, that would be great. If you got pics let me know.

Keep in mind I would like to upgrade the sound system as well so keep that in mind. Maybe one is better than the other with a system in mind.

Thanks again,
BRIAN

I think it is personal preference...

I have a '76 and I like buckets , I am going to tour the Auto wrecker yards to find a set in pristine condition the newer the better out of a Chrysler 5th Ave or New Yorker or a Cadillac as these are usually comfortable well made seats , I'm looking for Red leather it will probably take a while but I'm in no hurry. I like buckets because I can build a consul between them which can be utilized for sound system parts & with only 2 seats you will never have to take more than one passenger... I like that. But that is just my preference.
Most seats can be made to fit in the Truck some are more difficult than others.
Don't forget to sit in them to see how comfy they are before you buy, and have an idea how wide your truck is so you can measure the seats to make sure your doors will close after they are installed lol

Hope this may help.

Have a fabulous day.

If I didn't have to use a baby seat from time to time I would have buckets.

I'll eventually go with buckets. Much more comfortable. However, I was just donated a nice bench seat so the buckets will be in the not-so-near future.

I've seen several people use Suburban seats in our trucks. They look and fit good if you can find some in good condition.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Any idea what years are good to look for when swapping? Someone said suburban seats. Can newer years be used, anyone have any ideas or more examples that they have done or heard of working well.

i just put buckets in mine a few week ago and i love em. they are from an acura and wernt' so easy to mount. the floor board had to be redrilled and i had to use some square steel tubing to space two of the mount where the floor board drops down. i will have pics next week. if you get the aftermarket type some companys make them that will bolt right in, but they are expensive. i have $10 invested in mine for the hardware to install them. i got them for free.

Do you gain any leg room when you install buckets?

Maybe it would be better to just purchase the seats, pricey but they would be nice.

Any how does anyone have pics of their center consol or directions on how to build?

What did you do with your old bench seat? I could use another one.
