Quick ground strap question
There are two ground straps for my "71" GMC pickup. I did not take the one off that resides in the engine compartment so I am not positive where it goes. My first thought would be on the back side of the heads, but there are no holes located there. (diff heads)
Can someone tell me where the ground strap that is connected to the firewall should connect to? The only other place that seems realistic is a header bolt. That is unless it should not have been on the firewall in the first place. Does anyone know where the original location of the engine compartment groun strap should be located? Thank You, Valentini |

Re: Quick ground strap question
If you look on the back of the block (between head and bellhousing) on either side there is a hole that the spark plug wire loom is mounted to on mine, that's where I connect my ground straps, one to either side. If you don't have anything bolted there you need a 1/4" bolt at most 1/2" long.

Re: Quick ground strap question
I will check the block again. In the meantime I did place it on the valve cover bolt. Thanks for your replies.

Re: Quick ground strap question
That may be, but it looks a heck of a lot better hidden behind the engine.
