Re: my first photo post attempt...
Ok, here's some info...
interior and firewall is painted. Frost white. Cab interior floor and underside of cab is Rhino (?) lined. Frame & front suspension is painted chassis black by a friend who works at a bodyshop. I wish this was actual ride height, but I just have the a 2x4 setting on the front rubber snubber bracket between the bracket and the crossmember (no spring). And the rear trailing arms are temporary, as another friend is still building the new trailing arms, and I'm not done rebuiling the 5 lug rearend. The rear alsohas no springs in it. The rear axle u-bolts are sitting up against the rear rubber snubbers... So i'm guessing the true ride height will be about 3 inches taller in front and even taller in the rear... probably about a 2"/4' drop or so...

Re: my first photo post attempt...
Forklift, H#ll yeah,... It's actually my bosses forklift. We also has a 2 Ton track mounted hoist inside and a drive-on 4 post lift... So, yeah... in this case, cheating is good...

Re: my first photo post attempt...
I was just messin with ya, I have had to take my cab off so many times by jacking and blocking, that fork lift looks really good.
This was a fun day of all that. At least It still had the rotten rockers so I did not have to be careful not to smash them.

Re: my first photo post attempt...
This was the easiest cab install I've ever done. Not only did I have a forklift, I had 3 others there to help... I can relate to the floor jack & doing it alone...

Re: my first photo post attempt...
The only bad deal is. I have to have my truck out of the shop by morning. Not that I can complain about that. I just use the forklift to drag the mess back over to the storage unit.

Re: my first photo post attempt...
Other cool deal is... I got my 3-row radiator redone for free... Although I'm still leaning towards a NEW one.

Re: my first photo post attempt...
I'm not going to do any sort of build thread, as that requires a commitment and steady progress. I really don't see this looking much different in a month than it does in these pictures. But, if that does change I guess I'll throw on some more pics.

Re: my first photo post attempt...
I agree... Although my friend since I was 4, trailers his bike every year to Sturgis from Phoenix. He's 6'5" tall and can kick my @ss. So, sometime, when your staying the entire week, after driving 1200 miles and are having a family reunion, and are bringing the whole family (4 kids) to stay a grandma's all week for the week of the Sturgis Rally... I guess sometimes there are exceptions. (wink-wink)
I'm not going to call him a wussy...

Re: my first photo post attempt...
Its ok guys, I was just kidding about trailering. I know Bryan lives in the Black Hills & I also know how far Sturgis is away from there (hence the joke about it). Ive seen small bikes ridden over 1000 miles to Sturgis & seen baggers with trailers attached on trailers headed there as well. Ive been around bikes long enough to know what models they are too. Are all the street glides injected? Dont mind me, I have a strange sense of humor...

Re: my first photo post attempt...
I thought all newer harleys, since about '01-'02 were injected...?
In all the years I've lived in this area, it seems as though not only are more and more bikes trailered here, but the vehicles pulling them are nicer. you rarely see a beat-up '77 chevy p/u pulling the trailer, it's usually some NEW SUV worth $50,000... or a nice camper, anything from a Winebago to a Million doller Provost... It also seems that the real crowds are here earlier, like the Thursday before rally until the first part of rally week (Mon or Tues). It used to be that rally started on Monday (people rode in on the weekend) then ended Friday/Saturday(then drove home over the weekend) and the crowds showed that. Not anymore, I think the crowds peak on Tuesday, and Monday and Wednesday are bigger numbers than Friday. This year Toby Keith is playing Sunday at the beginning of Rally, then ZZ Top plays Thursday... It used to be that the big names were all towards the end of Rally week (Wed, Thurs, Fri) I think the TRUE bikers are almost gone. The ones that would ride thier bike more than driving thier rusty pickup, they had a tent strapped to the front forks of thier bike and used it, and rode from wherever to get to Sturgis every year. My opinion: a bike, a sturgis shirt and boots don't make you a BIKERS.

Re: my first photo post attempt...
Hello Bryan,
Looks like nice progress on the truck! Did you find a stepside box? I remember you trying to locate one awhile back. Good thing your storage unit is within draggin distance to work! I got another 73 3/4 ton bigblock pickup given to me, but I want the rear end, some interior and a/c parts out of this one. Will still have the front suspension and frame engine mounts in it if you would want to drag it off too. I have never been much of a biker as I don't like wind beatin me up(too many years workin in the wind) altho because of my looks I get accused of bein' a biker alot. I dig lookin at bikes and the people that ride em! Many years ago I was printing some t-shirts and I made up a few just for me that said "I don't own a Harley, just this Harley shirt." It was fun to see the double takes when the people actually understood! Later---DAC
