20 miles, 0 problems...6 years coming.

Well, I posted a while back about getting my truck on the road finally, but I hadn't taken it any farther than around town and to work (about 1 mile) thus far. I got the Phantom gauges back in yesterday, shocks on this morning and I drove it 20 miles today. All that's left is getting the power steering pump on and hooked up, and getting the back brakes up. Thankfully I live in an extremely rural area, so I was able to take it out on roads with no traffic to feel it out. It's a pretty awesome feeling, I know that.

I dunno if I can make the meet or not yet I know for sure I have to work that Friday. May have to work that Saturday too, won't know until that week. Kinda sucks, considering summer is our "slow" time. I guess that's the beauty of job security. Regardless, I won't be driving the 68. I don't trust it that much yet.

Re: 20 miles, 0 problems...6 years coming.

I'm hoping to get the rear brakes completely finished this weekend, then I'll take it out for a longer run. I'm also going to change the trans fluid and filter, to stop a bad pan leak.

Andy, I may be a wuss, but I'd rather be a wuss than have to be towed off of the side of the interstate....

I dunno, at sixty MPH I think you should have at least one more hand on the wheel and your good eye on the road. But I'm glad you are a whole lot farther along on your project than I am. I'm gonna live vicariously through you for a long time it seems. Good job.

Re: 20 miles, 0 problems...6 years coming.

You actually use 2 hands to drive on an empty road in a good handeling vehicle?

Digi cams have large LCD screens on the back, so you can glance down, see the immage and take the pic, faster than you could scan all your guages.

Re: 20 miles, 0 problems...6 years coming.

Damn hoodlum whipper snappers hijacking my thread. I'll have to get more pics this weekend if I can, it's definitely nothing to look at. But, for the second time, it's proven to be more reliable than my 04 F250. I went out to start the F250 after not driving it for 6 days....it was stone dead. So I drove the 68 to work...again... Happened to me once before as well, same scenario.
