Look at the deal I got! did i over pay?
I know i need pictures...maybe tomorrow
what do you think. did I pay too much I just picked up a 1970 3/4 ton 2wd the bed has a dent in the drivers side but no rust and repairable. the passenger side looks good no rust in or out. inside bed wheel wells are dent/rust free. It has a wood floor or what is left of the wood. doors are fair to good. small but ugly Dent in the hood and grill. no front bumper. 350 auto trans,ac, the glove compartment spec. sheet says something about camper but it's an 8ft bed not super long? what does that mean? good cab corners and floor, rockers just started to rust (original rockers) the bigest problem, there is a pin hole rust hole above the windshield inside and some rust in the channel on the roof of the cab where the chanel turns from above the windshield to the side of the cab. it has silicone in it. in the curve if i open the doors and look up there is rust under the channel where the doors close. but the cab looks good. supports are good and the floor (texas truck in VA)350 smokes a little with 5year old gas in it and wants to flood. When I got the truck i pored a little gas in the carb it started right up. the first time it's been stared in 5 years. I paid 100bucks! no rust in the tailgate on the outside very little inside. no dents around the tail lights. but the cab...humm. I just needed bedsides for my teenage son's truck but do you think this is more of a keeper for myself? I could swap the doors and bed then sell it. or keep it. HUMMM breaks suck but low of fluid the linkage is messed up drive doesn't read drive and it's hard to move the shifter lever. seat is trashed but foam and springs feel good. will the bedsides from the wood floor bed work on my sons steel floor bed? I haven't had time to compair i just got it and i don't keep the trucks at my house. |

No you didn't overpay lol... I say with only $100 into it so far you should fix it up. I also bought mine for $100 but yours sounds to be in much better shape...

Re: Look at the deal I got! did i over pay?
I'm just concerned about the cab. I was really just looking for parts for my teenage son's truck.
if it wasn't for the cab's roof gutter having rust i would for sure keep it. it's really in better shape than the $1,500 truck we got for my son. (except for the roof) his floors were rusted out and the bed was dented more than you could dream of. I figure i could swap the bedside if it will work on my son's steel floor. swap the doors and resell the truck with enough profit to buy a set of rims for my son. or keep it and keep looking for a good bedside for him. the truck i drive is a crap 82 ford that has no power. i use it for trips to the dump. |

Re: Look at the deal I got! did i over pay?
nice truck chevelle454 nice for 100bucks
I know that if i were to sink anouther 1400.00 in the truck it would be in far better shape than the $1500 truck my son started out with. I think I would be regret selling it. but i'm not rich and fixing two trucks would be expensive....i'm in virginia and it has taken me over a year to find a good bedside. I guss i could keep looking. |

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do... that $100 truck has turned into a $3500 truck so far, and it's not finished.

Re: Look at the deal I got! did i over pay?
I would guess that you got a good deal, especially considering you live in the rust belt. A lack of rust is good, no matter where you live. The only negative factor in anything we do, is that whatever we THINK it's gonna cost to do the vehicle, my experience is that you can triple or quadruple that amount and be closer. The longer it takes to reach that point just adds to the cost, too.
Oh yeah, I'm so deep into my wallet that I'm glad I told the wife that "by the time I am finished, I could have bought a new truck". So far, I'm still doing good.

Yeah, you paid too much, and I'd be willing to bail you out.
Nice start, keep us posted on the progress
