how thick?

going to be having my work bend me up a c notch to use on my c-10 and was wondering what you guys might suggest to use for thickness. 1/4 or 3/16?
i was looking at some 3/16 and thought that it would be enough to do this with but would still like some expert advise,
thanks
steve

Re: how thick?

I looked on www.***************** and see that they use 1/4" for the smaller notches and 3/16" plate for the larger ones. How big of a notch are you needing?

Re: how thick?

With a small C notch I would use 1/4" but with a step notch you could use 3/16".

Re: how thick?

I would say it depends on how it is designed. If it is designed properly you could use 3/16" for it. If you are pretty much doing it just like the ones you can buy, just stick with the material thickness they use. The cost/weight difference would be minimal.

Re: how thick?

thank you to all. it is going to be a basic c notch style that i will be welding in once i get power out to the garage. i was searching around at work the other day and found a good size piece of 1\4 inch that i can have and i will be making a blueprint to have the plasma table cut it out. then a couiple of 90 breaks and a weld in piece where the c notch cut is going to be and it will be done.
thanks for the input fellas.
