Bought truck, I have several questions need answered.

Here are the questions:
1. The truck has idiot lights and I want to use the guage cluster out of my 72 blazer. I know GMC pauls has the plug diagrams, so I reuse the same plug in the 67 and just pull the terminals and replace them in the slots that gmc paul has listed? I know I will need a oil pressure line and replace the water temp sender, what else will I need to do?

2. I am going to put the disc setup and spindles off my blazer on the truck. Will I need a new master cylinder and porp. valve? The truck has a booster, can I reuse it? I think I may just swap the rear end out of the blazer and use it under the truck so I wont have to worry about having axles redrilled and it already has rear disc also. I was thinking of using the porp. valve that ccp sells that is for disc/disc.

I think I am going to put the 20" ttII's on it also and get some different wheels for the blazer.

I know it is what it sounds like . I figured it would be cheaper on me right now to use parts from it. The rear end in the blazer has new 3:73's and a eaton posi and I wish I would have went with a trutrac and 4:11's since I am going with a overdrive now. I also put the impala rear disc on the blazer rearend and I want something bigger. The TTII's are fine but I want to run a 22" out back now and I think I am going to go with the centerline salt flats now on the blazer. I am going to fix the 67 up as a sweet driver that I can show but I am going to turn the blazer into something a little nicer. I would like to twin turbo the 283 in the 67 also but that is in the next 2 to 3 years.

#2:The booster is good and I think that prop.-valve will do ya just fine.Does the`67 still have the original m/c?You`ll want the dual res. m/c.If you need to buy anything there just make sure you get it all matching.The plunger rod can vary and get your head scratchin`.I bought a booster/master cyl. unit from Napa to keep it simple.

Yes. the info he has (at least it was 2 years ago) is correct. It worked great when we did it. Take your time. I made a diagram of the connector and the wire colors of each version to keep it straight. Practice on the blazer on getting the terminal from the connector.

I don't think you can just swap the spindles. The ball joint and tie rod ends studs are a different diameter with the 71. You would be better to change out the complete sub-frame......or change all the upper and lower control arms and then use the 72 steering linkage. Is there power steering issues?

Booster will be fine, Why not use the master cylinder & the prop valve from the blazer? Those drum pieces are different from disc pieces. They may work, but would not be 'correct', for safety reasons.

I did the cluster swap last week and it went pretty easy. I gave the booster and master cylinder to Uncle when he came and picked up the BBC. I have a booster and master on a 91 suburban that I have been parting out so I may just use it and get the right porp valve. I did some more research on the disc swap last night and realized what you said is true about the steering and the ball joints on the disc swap. I think I will call around today and see about getting a complete setup out of a 87 down truck and leave the blazer's front in there since I hate to have to put the 67 setup back in it so I can move it around when needed. Thanks for the help

On a 4x4 Blazer, the rear end width (drum to drum) is different than a pick up rear end. Im assuming your Blazer is a 2x, so the rear end is most likely the same as a pick up. Double check just to make sure.

If you are parting a '91 Suburban you can use the crossmember from that. Just make sure to use the steering components from the '91 also. I have a '91Suburban crossmember under the frame of my '70.

The suburban is a 4x4, I called the junk yard today and they are getting me all the stuff on a 80's c10 for $200 bucks including the crossmember, arms, steering componets, spindles, drums and calipers. I think I am going to use the brake booster and master cylinder off the suburban though.

I have all brand new stuff on the front of my blazer that I could sell you. all new ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, 3" drop spindles, wheel bearings, and cross drilled rotors with new calipers good power steering box off an 87 burb and Por 15 coated control arms. I wont be using the stuff with my new set up. shoot me a PM if you are interested.

I would use the booster/mastercylinder/ prop.valve from a '71-72 and the brake lines for the same 71-72. They are routed so much nicer on those than on the 73-87. With a small ammount of re-work the lines will look like a stock application. Here are somr pics of how I routed mine;

I think I am going to just make the suburban set up work for now, in the future I think I will probably convert to hydroboost on this truck as well and hate to spend the dough on the 71-71 and do away with it in a year or 2. Reckon I can make the 4x4 brake lines work off the 91 suburban?

Since you're changing to hydro anyway, I would use the blazer stuff. It looks like quite a bit of bracket and rod work from the 91 compared to just R&R from the blazer.

rlm316....nice work. looks really clean. Your set-up is similar to his 91 4x4 routing.

68speedalert, thanks. I have a '85 C10 that I used as a guide. Everything for the steering is '91 so there was a need to reroute the hard lines for the hose location on the upper a-arms. There is a slotted hole in the frame that I used to pass the hose through. The outside threads on the hose are 9/16 id so I just used a flat washer and a nylon loc-nut to anchor it. The hardest thing was bending and reflaring the hard lines, they were originally for a '71-'72 power disc/drum truck.

re idiot to gauge swap.
I used gmc paul's faq. Very simple, Easy to follow directions. Info was dead-on correct.

That is the directions I used to do the swap and it was fairly easy.
