'70-'71 Ball Joint/ A-Arm Question.
Hi new to the board with a Question, I have a set of what I believe to be '71 Chevy Truck Disk brakes (had a whole clip, saved everything but the lower arms... go figure) I need to know if '71 C-10 Lower Ball Joints will fit in the '70 Lower A-Arms? as I need the longer Studs to bolt the Thicker Disk Spindles in; is the diameter of the joints the same?..

Yeah, I put 72 spindles on my 70 by swapping ball joints.
Welcome to the board from South Mississippi!

Re: '70-'71 Ball Joint/ A-Arm Question.
Excellent, I was concerned there for a while... Now I just need to change out the bloody things... is there a simple way to do it? I Imagine I need to use the Tierod ends of the '71 as well?
If I don't get the spindles in here is another reason to break the suspension up... Last edited by Shaffer4; 07-05-2007 at 07:39 AM. |

Re: '70-'71 Ball Joint/ A-Arm Question.
You can use the outer tie rods from the 71 but you'll need an adapter sleeve to make them work with your factory inner. One of the board vendors may have them if you go that route. The ball joints aren't too bad to replace. The uppers will need the rivets ground off, and the new ones bolt in. I believe the lowers are pressed in, so you'd probably be better pulling the lower a-arm and taking it to a shop to have the new ball joints pressed in.
