Got another truck...

Picked her up Saturday evening, June 23. Left at 3pm, got home 3am with it, a little longer than it should have been, like twice as long, but I got her home no problem. I've only got one picture where you can kinda see the squat on my 97 K1500. She was riding the overloads, but still had plenty room to squat, rode good, and pulled good.

As for the truck, it's a 72 Custom/10, options sheet reads;
wood floor, a
uxiliary spring,
brake booster,
TH350,
HD Battery,
AM radio (gone and dash hacked),
full foam seat,
white/medium bronze (kinda nice color),
belt molding (upper trim, right?),
front stabilizer,
rear 3.73 gears,
350cid (long gone, with a mess of a 305),
power steering,
cigarette lighter (replaced with fancier one, haha),
tool and stowage box (WOOT!!)
guages,
black vinyl trim

Not too shabby, considering how fairly straight and nice this truck is for 35 years old. Got some nice options that I like too (toolbox mainly), not to mention the 72 grille/hood, disc brakes, doors, and all, that I like. Oh yeah, and a nice good tailgae which ain't too beat up. And, it does run, and runs good, I drive it almost daily. Now take a guess at how much I payed for this truck, and guess after you look at the pictures.

Now how much would you pay for this truck down south, east or west coasts? How much did I pay for it? 500 bucks for the truck, and almost 150 bucks in fuel from Williston to Bismarck, or about three hour trip first way I took, and four hour trip second way I came back (averaged 9-10 mpg in my 97 K1500 350cid. It's a three ton truck, pulling a one ton trailer, loaded comin back with a two ton truck. not too shabby)

Sorry to take so long with posting pics, but I've been either too lazy/tired/busy to do it before.

Only problems/gripes with this truck:
Got me arrested, (yes, arrested, for insurance, which was B.S. on a dumb cop or three's parts, got it cleared up)
Made me lose my cell phone temporarily (thanks 68350 and your girlfriend for finding my phone on the road!!)
Got a flat tire on the steely rim, and the rally rim tire has a leak,
Went dead - new safety starting switch (notice how I didn't say neutral SS, it starts any gear, which is sweet)
Wouldn't start at first (thanks 68350's dad for helping with that alternator wire)

Other than those headaches (I wanted to either part it out or burn it to the ground after all that), I love this truck, with it's 305cid double barrel carbed beast of a motor (yeah right, it's just a conglomerated mess), it gets around nice, and is a blast to drive.

rest of pics

P.S. did I mention that basically the only thing that doesn't work is one marker light (I will one year or so remember to replace the bulb) and the washer fluid pump (of all things, what the hell??) Everything else works fine.

Re: Got another truck...

I'd say overall it was an expensive truck, considering what happened, but otherwise a good score no matter what part of the country one is in!

not too expensive, after I got my bond back
overall, it hasn't cost me too much, yet....
I've got plans now to rebuild that 300 horse 350 I've got layin around for it, that'll be a decent chunk of change, and then drop spindles for the front, gotta get some tires, a few other odds and ends, before I really decide whether to rebuild the truck or not.

one word: salt. we use that stuff on our food, not our roads. Really though, many of the 67-72's around here in ND are in bad to decent shape, worse than this one usually, but it's not uncommon to find nice original ones like this.

while on the topic of these trucks existing in MN, apparently they exist around Bismarck, because when I was coming back with 68350's brother (or 68350 some of the times I think) we saw a truck exactly like Tom's. We swore it was him, until I talked to him, saying he wasn't around. Weird.
