69 gmc???
i am new to the form and looking to purchase a truck. i came across a 69 gmc for a good price but i am not a fan of the front grill. i perfer a 67 chevy grill. can a 67 chevy grill be installed onto a 69 gmc? what else other than the tailgate would need to be changed; in order to make this gmc into a chevy? lots of pictures would be great....
thanks |

Re: 69 gmc???
The easiest way to do it, would to be to grab the entire front clip off a 67 or 68. The only difference between 7 and 8 is side marker lights (normally reflectors) on the latter.
You could go and source a hood, grill, bumper, gravel pan, core support, and harness... but honestly, it is simply easier to find a whole clip as one piece. While I do love the look of the 67/68 chevy, give the GMC grill a chance to grow on you. It's (IMO) a great looking front end on a great looking truck, but it's one you don't see at every single cruise in... kinda like being with the 'in' crowd, while having your own identity |

Re: 69 gmc???
You forgot to specify Chevy or GMC.So,I agree, they both can`t be beat.If you want a Chevy, find a Chevy.Leave the rarer GMC be for those who can appreciate them.Would you change a Firebird to a Camaro?A GTO to a SS?

Re: 69 gmc???
The hoods are different for 67/68 and 69 up.
The whole front end, fenders, inner fenders, core support and hood were swapped out along with the grille. The front end was changed over to a 73 to use the 5 on 5 wheels and disc brakes. Don't believe I would do the sheet metal again- just the wheel switch. The stock GMC has a killer front end already on it, plus they are getting rarer every day due to the conversions to the Chevy grilles.
