My ultra low buck 70 GMC build

Right now I havent done a thing to it since I bought it , but once I get my 72 back on the road its going to get some much needed bodywork and a coat of flat black paint.

This fall I plan to lower it 3 inches, lose the back bumper and maybe swap out the cab for a less rustier one. I hope to have less than 2 grand in it when its finished.

For now the 250 six/3pd are going to stay, It runs great and get pretty decent mileage. I might think about upgrading to a 4 spd ( or even a 5 spd)
if the right deal comes along.

Well I got tired of the blue paint peeling off so I spent a few hours running a D/A over the truck and gave it a quick coat of semi-gloss black. Definitely a 20 foot paint job, maybe even a 40! I didnt want to spend too much time on the cab & doors since they are going to the scrapyard someday.

I used a roller on the top but it didnt turn out too good, the roller started to come apart and left a bunch of lint in the paint.

Once I get the engine & tranny back in my 72 I'll probably drop it down few inches.

Rockers are just tacked in for now, In the first pic the PO had cut them out.

The cab is complete junk, It has about a gallon of bondo holding the floor together and is tweaked where the bed hit it when it was rear-ended years ago. The doors outer skins are good but the inside bottoms are gone. I even had to weld a patch on the lower hinge area to keep it from falling off.

So far I am still under budget, about $1200 invested including the cab I found for $100 bucks.
