i polished the turd

by putting on an open element air cleaner...looks a little out of place but i was bored.

i had to move some vaccuum lines cuz it was hitting, and broke a fitting on the back of the intake manifold, and had to make my own from pieces at autozone, oh well it works and its kinda funny looking.

Re: i polished the turd

Looks like you need to get a new master cylinder right now before it leaks into the booster and fries that.

Re: i polished the turd

yea i gotta do something about the brakes, i thought it might just need to have the brakes bled but as soon as i get some cash ill put on the new booster. how bad would it be if it did fry the master cylinder? and how much are both of these pieces?

Re: i polished the turd

NEW master cylinder is $30-$40. Do not take a rebuild, tell them you want a NEW part. It's only like $3 more. I've had rebuilt ones be junk right out of the box.

Booster should cost about the same, though it's been awhile since I bought mine.

Re: i polished the turd

I've been kinda on a budget as of late. I replaced the master cylinder and brake booster for my '83-$20 for both from the junkyard...fairly new and they both work perfect. I'm not much for junkyard parts, but this time it actually worked out for me.

Re: i polished the turd

I'm a fan of black air cleaner lids, especially when installing them in a crusty old engine bay. Nice shiny chrome looks awful in a dirty engine bay to me. I always laugh when I go to a cruise night and some dude has a nasty engine bay with bright shiny valve covers and air cleaner. On the other hand, nice crinkle-coated black parts help class up the engine bay without looking out of place. A can of primer and a can of Duplicolor truck bed liner paint would make that air cleaner assembly look nice.

Re: i polished the turd

You know I just noticed you're missing the A/C bracket that connects to the back and goes over to to the intake.

Re: i polished the turd

i know it looks stupid, thats why i put it on. it motivates me to fix the other stuff on it. i have a 94 LT1 in my garage im debating converting to carb and throwing in, but have to find a way to get it down to WV where the truck is. i dont think my block is baby blue...does this that mean its not the original motor?
