Re: Project: Bolt one on

Got the frame back, got the rear suspension slung. 56" long 4" lift skyjacker with a 4" ORD shackle flip (my brother already bought it, or I would have gone with the diy4x one, much sturdier).

Also got all the items powder coated/painted.

I must really love this guy (in a non homo sort of way , he's the godfather of my kids), full on frame off!

Re: Project: Bolt one on

Got the 14B rear and D60 front blasted, installed the Detroit in the front. Axles and springs are installed, getting ubolts made on tuesday.

Motor's built, waiting on the engine mount kit from DIY4X.

Transmission's gone through as well.

Once I get the stuff from Northwest Fab, high steer will go on as well as the Black Box gear reduction box. I'll be rebuilding the 205 with pieces from NWF as well.

Re: Project: Bolt one on

Got to do burn outs in this the other day... my last project.

Still working out the bugs. Then building a tow rig to tow the Jeep and K5. A 68 K30 that started life as a 71 C30...

Re: Project: Bolt one on

Well, the front of the frame's been looking lonely and forlorn for a while, so Gary and I added a bit of bling:

a 383 Stroker that started off as a Vortec 350 from a 98 Burb. Just got it back from the machine shop, where it got all sorts of goodies, cam, roller rockers, some port and polish work on the Vortec heads, an Edelbrock TBI intake, some aluminum valve and timing chain covers and Sanderson stainless ceramic coated headers.

Re: Project: Bolt one on

Sounds like a great motor - what do expect the HP and torque to be?

the lower end's all forged...

Re: Project: Bolt one on

Today was an interesting day...

Started yesterday with building a gantry style crane out of galvanized pipe that will become my kids swing set.
Still feeling a little loopy from welding the galvanization.

Today, Gary and I set the body down on the frame, so I can drag it over to the body shop for metal work. They will have to take it off again to paint the underside of the tub.

This thing's rocker boxes are in very solid shape. Oh yeah, I finished rebuilding the entire D60 front, too. NorthWest Fabrication High Steer with Crossover... arms are already on the knuckles. Also added CTM's and a set of Alloy 4340 Axle shafts.

I also picked up a new donor car (73 Eldorado) and another D60 front today at a car parts swap.

What's "sort notice"?
Ok, how about the caddy?

Getting ready to do body work, soon. Floor patches and a driver's side rocker is, I think about it.

Shipped the body off

Kurt (vtblazer) came for the Blazer on Thursday.

I said I would post the list here:

Repair all rot. Can't be a single bit of it.
Undercoat the body to prevent rot and make it pretty
seal all trim holes
Knock dents out.

The idea here is for a pretty driver, not a show truck.

Re: Project: Bolt one on

Tub is stripped of the remainder of small parts and cleaned of dirt and debris.

Raised the camera Friday afternoon for the pics and 'beep' goes the low battery signal.

Being the frame is done and all perty, we're going to swap the tub over to another blazer frame that's on casters, that way the existing frame stays nice while all the sand blasting takes place.
Motor/tranny will stay inside the shop, warm and dry.

Looking forward to pics. I like the swap idea, as it allows for the bottom of the tub to be worked on.
