I have a new wire harness and just want to make sure I dont remove something that I might need.

Thanks all.

Re: Name that electical component....

When I get home I have an ultra cool 71 Chevy Repair manual (earlier repairs for the new vehicles in 71) anyways it has this ultra cool road map where every component is given an number to where it connects to like on a map. Part 72 dg a3 (obviously the part #, then dg for color of wire then A3 for the location of the part that the wire hooks into and what). Let me check when I get home.

Yes, they are for the TCS (transmission controlled spark) system.

Re: Name that electical component....

From a period repair book;"TransmissionControlled Spark Advance; The vacuum solenoid that was used in 1970 is changed to a Combination Emissions Control (CEC) solenoid and has two functions: it controls distributor advance and acts as a deceleration throttle stop in high gear to reduce emissions." It goes on to mention the presure switch on the trans, the relay, AND a "time delay relay". It also lists a system for manual trans models and trucks.Brian

LOL, yeah. Unless of course you live in California and current proposed legislation continues to pass (currently with some transportation committee) and ALL older vehicles are again required to pass inspection and testing! But then you wouldn't get by with a 455 either.
