Re: 84 CHEVY SWB CREW CAB-Austin Craigslist

I was thinking that too. Looks like the rear of the bed behind the wheels got chopped down somehow.

I have a redneck uncle (more redneck than me, anyway) who's a big time 4x4 guy. That looks like one of their mods they call "the bob" that they do I think to get better departure angles in the back.

Looks photoshopped to me!

But maybe that's just cuz a SWB on a crew cab just looks odd...

Re: 84 CHEVY SWB CREW CAB-Austin Craigslist

Wasn't there a member on here from TX that had built a SWB crew as a 4x4 but had converted it to a lowered 2wd? It was a similar blue color too.

There aren't that many converted to SWB so I'm thinking it might be the same one.

It appears that they cut the long bed down "behind" the wheels rather than using a short bed.

You nailed it. That's what looked funny about it. Never noticed it till you said it.

Thats a standard short wheel base bed on that truck (the one on cl). I think the pictures make the wheels look off a little because of the angle . Neat truck . Frank

This is the one Zoomad75 was referring to. It was a 4x4 (and a damn nice looking one too!) that he converted to a 2wd.
IIRC, the owner was a parts manager or something at a dealer so eveything was new and OEM.

Re: 84 CHEVY SWB CREW CAB-Austin Craigslist

I think someone is playing games . Thats the same truck on the same driveway . Look at the driveway and the brick on the garage , and the breezeway , in those two pics . They are the same truck only someone photoshopped the reflections out . . The background is different . Probably a scam . Frank

OK here goes... I make my living as a video editor and videographer, I am Production Manager at the local FOX affiliate here in Yakima, WA. I say it's the same truck with definitely different pictures. NO photoshop! To many things (objects) are different in the pics and the light angle and strength are wrong.
As stated I can't prove it is or isn't a SCAM. I may be wrong about the pictures but don't think so, go ahead an prove me wrong guys!!!!!

God Bless, have a Great Sabbath, Terry

Maybe it is the same truck, minus the wheels. Maybe it is even the same seller that is a member of this board?

Re: 84 CHEVY SWB CREW CAB-Austin Craigslist

I can't say they are not the same truck, but...
I think the driveway and brick work on the house are coincidental.

On the picture posted here taken from the passenger side you can see houses in the distance not that far away. In the CL pictures there are houses but they look much farther away.

The house in the CL ad has two garage doors; one small and one large. The one posted here only has one large door.

The houses look real similar, could almost be the same neihborhood.
The truck might be the same though?

Re: 84 CHEVY SWB CREW CAB-Austin Craigslist

They are the same truck . Maybe he changed the wheels an all but it looks like the same driveway and there are no houses in the background now . There pics on CL shows only one garage door but you can see the edge of the door it shows and the driveway is definitely wider . Maybe he wants to give his neighbors a little privacy and not post pics on the web with their houses in them . That truck is nice . If it is for sale at that price , thats not bad . Here is TX Firefighters original link . The grille , paint , etc are the same and the grille isnt stock . I wonder if he is selling to build something better .

Re: 84 CHEVY SWB CREW CAB-Austin Craigslist

I think its just the fact that it's lowered with stock 15" wheels that makes it look funny. I like shortbeds lowered, but I think longbeds or crew cabs look best at stock ride height with maybe a little rake if using stock size wheels. Though longbeds and crews do look good lowered with 17" or larger wheels.

Re: 84 CHEVY SWB CREW CAB-Austin Craigslist

After seeing the additional pictures in f.monroe's link I would have to say they are the same. I stand corrected.
The better view of the grill and the backgrounds pretty much put any question to rest.

Also, I emailed the guy and he said yes they are the same!
Me: "Can you tell me if the truck you are selling is the same truck as this one?" (I attached one of the pictures posted here)
Him: "yep, that's my truck with americans on it."
