Re: sm465

2wd SM465 have a 35 spline mainshaft with a threaded end for putting a yoke on the rear. 4wd SM465, depending on year, either have a 10 spline mainshaft with a sleeve to a male input transfer case, or a 32 spline mainshaft that feeds directly into a female transfer case input gear. Either way, you can't just swap the 2wd for the 4wd. You'll have to tear it down and rebuild it (which you would have to do for a mainshaft swap anyway) or run 'er until she blows

Re: sm465

Or you could go out and find a divorced version of a 205 (I'm thinking dodge, can't remember) and run it with the 2wd tranny. You'll need to have a short driveshaft between the trans and t/case and a totally separate t/case x-member. It's a lot of work, but you can end up with better driveline angles on the front shaft since it gets longer.

The easiest thing to do would be to rebuild your 4wd tranny.
