to rhino or not to rhino

What do you guys think my floors are done and i was thinking of coating them . just the area where the front seats are not the bed . any pros or cons lets here them .

If you're doing it for yourself and you like the look, functionality and durability, go for it. If you are worried about the resale value, I wouldn't do it. I would think twice about an old truck that has been lined because you never know what is under the lining.

I am not sure if I would buy anything that had the cab lined. Then again - that is just me.

Don't rhino line anything -- that is potentially a valuable truck--- maybe the bed area, but thats it

Of course - it is your truck, not mine, but thats just my opinion ----

Now if it was a '78 or an '88 ---- i'd say Rhino line whatever the heck you want--- i love my '88 but i do understand that it does not have the value potential of a first gen. like yours

If you are putting carpet or rubber mat down, I would just POR-15. I also wouldn't if your going for the resto/ all original style. But if the metal floor is it - go for it (that's the plans for mine). Especially if your looking for easy cleaning (i.e. sprayer on water hose) You can take pics of the floor pans before lining so if you may want to sell it later on.

On the other side of the coin. I bought my truck the way it was as it had most everything I wanted including rhino liner. The rhino on mine is on the bed and there is a carpet in the front. When I bought it I had the PO lay on hise back and shoot pictures under the truck so i could see the floor under the truck. I would take the carpet out in a minute and rhino the front also but the old lady likes the carpet. If you do rhino it, make sure you change the body bushings first. I had to cut the liner off the top of the bolts with a die grinder. It looks fine but it was a pain in the butt.

Thanks guys i will be putting carpet in .i was just seeing if anyone has found that the liner would save the floors from future rust and help with engine noise . The patches i put in along with supports braces and rockerboxes i dont want it (rust) to become an issue ever again any tips .note i wont be running this in the snow but maybe some rainy spring days arent out of the question.This is supposed to be the fair weather daily driver .I will post you all some pics on sunday if i can get them loaded my computor at home is on its last legs .

I was thinking of Line X myself but it seems like everyone is against it?

I plan on my Jimmy being a full time convertible (best top soft top) and expect to occaisionally get caught in the rain. I am fixing the floors and don't want to ever deal with it again. What would be the best way to protect the floors without having rust return?

My off road blazer has a spray in coating everywhere inside the tub.
Gotta say for what it's in, it works awesome.

Go get all muddy or dusty and when I get home I just open the doors and hit it with the hose.

So for what it's worth, I'd use it in the right application.

My every-day driver is completely lined and I think it's great. No worries about the kids dripping ice cream or spilling their drinks. We go to the dunes at Pismo Ca. at least every other month and if I had carpet it would be trashed. You can always cover the lining up with carpet later on.

I'm building a 2wd Roadster and I'm Line-Xing the whole thing Tailgate to Firewall, but some people don't like it. I know the resale value may hurt, but hell it's a 2wd blazer. Somebody will buy it if I ever decided to get rid of it.

I was intrested in doing the same since i go the whole summer with the top off and have got pleanty of times in the rain! Never reallly thought about the details but good facts like tape bolt heads and all holes. would like to see some pics.

what's it take to get all the gunk, grime, and glue off the floor to spray in a liner?

First i would try a steam jenny or pressure washer then sand it .

I would think as for ressale if the rest of the truck is solid no rust or a ton of bondo that it wouldnt hurt the resale but if the doors are rusted out and there is alot of bondo in the rest of the body then it may come up as a resale issue. I would take good pics before you put it on and go with it. I use https://www.durabakcompany.com/secure/order.htm they will also sell it to you with out the ruber ruff tred in it so that you can paint the hole truck with it if you wanted. I used there orange on my 72 blazer.

I'm out here in the desert. Where we constantly have sand blowing and the weather is nice enought to have the top off most of the year. So I'm plannig to line my whole tub. If it comes down to it Line-Ex or Rhino will come out I've seen it chip out of truck beds (under the right conditions-ABUSE). I'm guessing that means it'll sand blast out. But this sandout here will be under foot everytime I get in and out. I don't think the paint on the floor will last very long like that. -Jason

I am Rhino ..in my 72 Jimmy I don't ever plan to sell it Been in the family to long. i think for off roadin Rhino is the best easiest to clean .... but if you are going to use it as a daily driver and hardly ever take it in the sand or mud then For sure put in the carpet and other stuff. thats just my . .02

I have been debating this myself. I will be coating the bottom side of mine with SEM liner so I can color match to the truck. Right now I am thinking about carpet on the inside but not sure what i want to use just yet.
