speaker static
I just installed my new Pioneer CD player in my truck and it worked but the old speaker I put in was fuzzy sounding and had a real strange crackle in it. I bought new 4" speakers and made a bracket and stuck them under there and the problem seemed to go away. About two hours later, I jumped in the truck and there was the same annoying crackle. It sounds like like a real deep static but only on the bass sounds. I love my tunes so it is very important to me to get this fixed. Thanks, John

same question as above. If it's when the truck is running it could be interference from your ignition.

Either way, engine running or not running, same amount of static.

Well I think I fixed the other thing- the bass was preset super high and also set on "hi" loud and I think it was too much for the speakers. Now they have just normal static that gets worse when the volume is turned up. It doesn't static until it hits about 8-9 but after that gets so bad you can't hear anything else. And it is not radio interference because I am playing CDs. Any ideas?

I tried with/without all accessories, heater/lights/etc but it still gets real bad static with higher volumes. I will go re-check the ground right now.

This one is a shot in the sky.. But if your running an amp, then you could have some bad RCA cables. Happens all the time. Just another possibility.

Good ground, no amp. I just can't figure it out. I also re-checked the red wire going to the fuse block. Is there anything like a "static suppressor" or anything like that I can get?

Process of elimination.... Find a different power source(just temporary) and "Good" ground. Noise still there? now start out with ONLY one speaker, if the noise is gone start connecting speakers until you find the one thats causing the noise.
Also, on your power/grounds for the stereo use new wire to the fuse block or ignition switch. Some aftermarket radios require more than the small factory wire can provide. |

Thanks Piston I'll try that tomorrow. I am also going to rearrange all the wires under the dash, because since the static started after I drove it, maybe some wires came into contact (?) Thanks for all the tips guys.

here is a long shot but that happened with my speakers, but check the connections on the speaker wire to the speaker, sometimes theres not a good connection there and it will cause it to static or maybe you dont have good enough speaker wire, just tryin to help, keep us updated

Well I *think* I solved the problem- I had some wires hnging down from under the dash that I am going to hook into a couple of 6.5" speakers when I get my kick panels from Wes- anyway, the rubber sleeve had slipped off them, the connections were lying on the floor, and I guess it must have messed something up causing static. I slipped the sleeve back on and the problem has not reappeared, so I hope it is something as simple as that. Thanks for everything guys!

I hooked up the 6.5" speakers just to see what it would sound like and it was awesome! I have gone way too long without music in my truck. Too bad I didn't cut the dash sooner, I have not regretted it at all.

HEHE!! Tell me about lack of tunes! it sucks!
I'm using a Pioneer tape deck, with controls for a CD changer, and two Kenwood 6.5s hanging off my heater pipes underneath the dash with ratchet straps! LOL!! Need I say more, it SUCKS! but it works......for now. Glad you found an easy fix though.
