Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
That seemed like a hell of a deal, until I saw the $37.99 shipping.

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
Still seems like a good deal to me, beings how some HID kits are in the thousands
It's only a hundred bucks & you're getting 3-4 X's more the light than a halogen, which is like double the brightness of stock sealed beams |

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
DONT BUY THEM OFF EBAY... They are not real hid's. I ordered a set of hid's for my c-10 last week...waiting for them to arrive. I purchased mine from zenon depot I think....the 8000k kit for a little over $300.00
I have the same kit in my Denali truck as well..They are great. I will never drive another vehicle without them. I will post pics after the install. I did buy the crystal clear 7" round H4 lights off e-bay though for $45 They just got here today..Look great. Cant wait to install them.

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
Well my friend got burnt on cheap hids..sorry. they are real...real cheap. You will see when they burn out, or one is dimmer than the other, quickly. Just giving a warning. Even the $300 I paid is cheap. A good set of phillips hids are about $700.00 min

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
Evilbay, that's what i call it. Don't buy em. I got a set of Pilot H4's for my 72 GMC. I bought 4- 5 3/4" lights from JCWhitney and then bought 4 H4 bulbs from NAPA. Total of around $120, I think. I also got the relay kits from MAD electrical, and installed them and love em. Although the diameter is a little smaller than the typical 5 3/4" light. I'll try to get some pics.

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
IMHO, HID's for that cheap.......There's something wrong there. Proper HID kits are at least $300+

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
HID's are expensive, but also illegal for street use on cars that did not come with them from the factory or are running historic plate. Check your local DMV laws. Most are too bright and a hazard for oncoming drivers. H4's with relays are more than plenty. I will be releasing a DOT legal kit soon.

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
I dont believe they are a danger to other drivers if they are properly installed. If they are hittinf the ground and aligned properly they shold be okay. I have not been pulled over in the past 4 year of driving....but cops are diff everywhere, so that is prob on a case by case basis. I can tell you in Maryland the older/historic vehicles get alot more lehway (spelled correct?)
than newer vehicles....alot more mods are overlooked on the historic vehicles. Plus everyone likes hot rods driving around...they bring back memories...where a civic slammed and buzzing around people do not like. lol

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
Did the HIDs you bought have a hi and lo beam? A lot of them only have the lo beam. Member Subtle71 has HID lights and made a post with pics of them installed. I asked him in the thread as well as PMed him to ask about a brand or where he got them but I never got a reply.

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
I have only low beam. I have seen the high beam/lo beam kits...but the 8k kit i installed is bright enought not to need high beams.

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
you guys might check out the link below.
http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/index.php If you guys want to run HID's, I suggest you use a Hella conversion. They use ECE housings, which give you a decent beam patten with HID's. Also if you want a quality kit, go with an OEM manufacturer ie: Hella, Matsu****a, Phillips.. Also use a D2R bulb with a H4 adapter with a shield.

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
Relays take the strain off the whole electric system in the truck. The factory wiring and switch weren't made to take the amps these new lights need.
The relay is so all the head light switch see's is to activate the relay which draws striaght off the battery.

Re: Anybody run'n HID lights ???
I believe that if you search through this forum enough, you'll find a post by somebody who went with super high output lights and didn't upgrade his wiring. One day he lost low beams on the way home at night. Switched to high beams. Lost them too. He later found out he smoked his stock wiring running all that current through those little factory wires.
If you need to ask why the relays are needed, you need to do some research before you hook up those new lights.
