Im from upstste NY and just got my first blazer a few months ago its a 70, but I think I saw yours when I was on the hunt for one. Did you buy it from my area? If so it sure is a small cyber world. If not its identical to one I checked out in person. Just curious. Hope you are havin fun fun with it. I was into jeeps but have been havin a blast with the mine all summer.

Re: New from Tucson 1st gen blazer
Truck arrived today!!! I drove it immediately to the emissions station to get the registration process started and it failed. I think the truck is running a bit rich, has a dirty and small air filter, and the idle is a bit too high. Nothing that has me worried. Some fresh oil and plugs and it should pass. I did get to drive it a bit and it's a BLAST, especially the 4 speed manual. The exhaust needs a bit of work because the rear tips don't go past the bumper and that causes the exhaust gasses to get sucked in the rear window.
The top is in crappy shape, but it's getting yanked tomorrow anyway. The rear frame where the bumper attaches needs some tweaking. There are a couple electrical gremlins. For some reason the gas gauge gets lower when the lights get turned on. Only the interior light turns on when the passenger door opens, not the drivers door. Maybe a faulty switch. Truck has HEI, front disk brakes, and power steering. No tach, but I'm wondering if I need one. My father-in-law thinks I don't. He's probably right. I'll test out the usual stuff like ball joints and inspect the u-joints tomorrow. Overall in great shape, I'm excited and ready to burn through some cash! |

Re: New from Tucson 1st gen blazer
Welcome from Texas. I Lived in Tucson for about 10 years back in the 70's. Matter of fact I ordered my 72 from Jimmy GMC. Is it still there? Nice truck. Your gas gauge sounds like a ground problem. Sounds stupid, but check ground to wiper motor. Your door switch may just need a little wd. It's just a ground to complete the circuit, they get a little rusty & don't work. If your truck is cammed it's hard to get it to smog. I use to retart the devil out of mine and lean it to the point it would hardly run. Smog it, then take it home & make it run again. Pain in the A**. Tucson didn't have a snog program when I lived their, but moved to Vegas & they did. Finally put a dual point mallory in it and switched one set of points to toggle under dash. All I had to do was kill one set of points to drop timing electrically. Have fun with your nice truck.

Re: New from Tucson 1st gen blazer
Welcome from Tucson. What side of town do you live on? I drive a white 72 K5 with a full rollcage and I haven't had the hard top on for a long time. I will be on a lookout for your orange/yellow blazer. It won't be hard to miss!
I like the color. Good luck with the emissions. |

I elected to get collectors car insurance and bypass the stupid emissions requirement. We will have to hook up for a meet. |

it's always puzzled me how our golden state has leniency in this manner. seems the green folks have pushed so hard in other vehicles and the EPA is always sinching up emissions standards for us.
