Post And the work begins, Pt. I

Well, the top things on my list today were getting the left rear tire changed...DONE...and getting power to the interior....DONE....

I can't believe the mess of wiring under that hood! Previous moron owners need to be shot. There was a wire coming from the battery, going into the interior, and coming out between the steering column, and it's sealing grommet. There was another wire going from the fusebox feed wire, through the harness, down by the voltage reg, and looping back around into the interior. This wire also came out in the same spot. They were both cut off??? So, I got rid of the excess wire, and hooked the 2 together....we have power...cool... The only thing that bugs me is that I don't know why the truck was set up like that....

I also had to fix the blue wire that goes from the regulator to the alternator plug. It was running through a HOSE, to the alternator. I pulled it off, and it was totally melted.

Now, to my question:
Does anyone have pics of a 3 spd column linkage setup? Mine is all unhooked, and a mess.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

TJ

Sounds like you're off to a great start, I have no idea what the linkage should look like for these trucks, as i've never seen one that was intact. As far as the 2 goofey wires in the column grommet, maybe there is a problem somewhere in the fuse panel draining power and the guy just tied these wires together and disconnected the rest as opposed to fixing the problem.

I've got so many wires under my dash that go to nothing.......and a fuse panel that's junk.......I just ordered a new underdash harness and will get to it as soon as the Chevelle suspension is done and I can get the truck in the garage.

I'm just glad I understand wiring....otherwise, it'd be even more of a pain.....gotta fix the right taillight...doesn't work....probably in the harness underneath...
